Hush tiptoes between the present and the murky recesses of CharlieÕs memory. Through a series of flashbacks, Charlie attempts to reflect upon the residual damage from a forced subservience to her mother whose diagnosed Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy led to the infliction of physical illness disguised as affection. While the novella touches upon these instances of abuse, ultimately this is a story about the trials of recovery. Through an exploration of fractured filial relationships and strength found through familial unity, Hush tackles what it means to finally find oneÕs voice after years of being silenced.
