  • Hangar 9 Valiant 20cc  Introduction

The original Hangar 9® Valiant 30cc was a beloved and highly reviewed model due to its classic yet modern looks, as well as unexpected aerobatic capability, plus smooth and stable flight performance. However, the 108-inch wingspan made it difficult for many pilots to store and transport. The Valiant 20cc is a scaled-down version with an 86.5 inch (2.2m) wingspan that still offers a giant-scale experience – but in a more practical size for everyday flying. It features the advantages of lightweight, stiff, and strong wood construction that’s covered with genuine UltraCote film. Plus, it's available in an ARF version that allows you to install the glow, gas, or electric power system and electronics you prefer, or in a time and money-saving EP PNP version that’s equipped with six factory-installed Spektrum servos, a 4S-6S compatible Avian motor, and a Smart ESC.

Hangar 9 Valiant 20cc EP PNP Overview

The Valiant design is well known for its proven versatility due to its incredibly smooth and stable flying manners, yet also unexpected and excellent aerobatic capability. A semi-symmetrical airfoil provides outstanding handling and wind penetration, while the operational flaps can deliver STOL-like takeoff and landing performance. The flaps can also travel both ways so they can be mixed for optional use as full-span ailerons, flaperons, and spoilerons. Flaps up, the Valiant is a sport flying and aerobatic dream machine with crisp roll performance and excellent rudder authority for impressive knife edge passes – especially for a high-wing model. Like its larger and smaller brothers, the Valiant 20cc delivers an overall rock-solid feel in the air that’s perfect for a wide range of intermediate to advanced pilots!

The ARF version arrives mostly factory assembled with pre-installed hinges and bolt-on tail surfaces that save you considerable time and effort. It also allows you to install a 20cc gas engine, similar-class glow engines, or an equivalent electric power system and the electronics you prefer. The PNP version saves you even more time because it doesn’t require any glue for assembly and is equipped with six factory-installed digital and metal-geared Spektrum A6380 servos, a 4S-6S compatible Avian 5065-450Kv outrunner motor, and a 100-amp Smart ESC that can provide a variety of power system related telemetry data with Smart and non-Smart batteries via compatible receivers and Spektrum AirWare-equipped transmitters.

Both versions include simple yet durable aluminum landing gear with optional-use wheel pants. You also have the option to install floats with a silver-painted finish using the custom float strut set (sold separately). The balsa and lite-ply airframe arrives factory-finished with genuine UltraCote film covering and a variety of features, including a large and convenient top-mounted windshield hatch, a painted-to-match fiberglass cowl, plus LED navigation lights. It all adds up so the Valiant 20cc is sure to become a hero around your club and field as the model to have – no matter what flying occasion may arise!

Skill Level 3 – Intermediate Pilots (Experience Required)

Skill Level 3 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots who already have some experience and the skills to assemble, set up and fly similar class models. You should have the experience and skills necessary to successfully fly models like the E-flite Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m, Turbo Timber SWS 2.0m, Carbon-Z Cessna 150T 2.1m, Carbon-Z Cub SS 2.1m, or other similar class models before attempting to fly the Valiant 20cc.

    Smart Technology

The Valiant 20cc PNP version is equipped with an exclusive Spektrum Avian Smart ESC that can provide a variety of real-time power system-related telemetry data, including motor RPM, current draw, battery voltage, and more – with Smart and non-Smart batteries – via compatible receivers and Spektrum AirWare equipped transmitters (including the DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, the DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to 20, and others) while you fly.

    Plug-N-Play Completion Level

This Plug-N-Play (PNP) version comes out of the box with a factory-installed power system and servos that are ready to connect to the compatible receiver of your choice (sold separately). Plus, no glue is required for assembly so you can be in the air as easily and in as little time as possible – typically in just 1-3 hours!

    Convenience Features

The large, top-mounted and magnetically secured windshield hatch cover makes it easy to install and remove batteries for electric power options, and to access the fuel tank and other components for gas and glow setups. There’s also a second hatch for additional electronics access located on top of the fuselage between the two-piece wings that secure quickly and easily with thumbscrews plus there are slots in the fuselage to hold the wing tube for more convenient storage and transport.

    Wood Airframe

The balsa and lite-ply airframe is lightweight yet stiff and strong. Best of all it arrives mostly factory-assembled and finished in genuine UltraCote film covering. The PNP version also includes durable, factory-installed metal-geared and digital Spektrum A6380 servos. And in the unfortunate event you damage any airframe parts or components and can't repair them, a full line of replacement/spare parts is readily available.

    Gear Options

Both versions include simple yet durable aluminum landing gear with optional-use wheel pants. Or you can install the optional silver-painted foam float set (EFLA5600S; sold separately) and float strut set (HAN15066; sold separately) sets to fly at large ponds and lakes!

Measure what you buy.
Size: 50 Feet, Style: 10 AWG
I love the product made my job easy on this last pontoon I worked on but the pontoons only 20 ft long and I only pulled wires halfway and I got less than 10 ft left there was not 50 ft on that spool. But now that I've cut it used it and are using it a little hard to complain, but the use of the application for the wire is 100%, thank you very much for the product.

Great value, but not overly flexible.
Size: 50 Feet, Style: 10 AWG
I used this wire to run power from my car's battery to a ham radio in my trunk, and an inverter under my driver seat. This wire fit the bill perfectly. It is water, oil resistant, and tinned (to resist corrosion). One challenge I ran into was its stiffness. Despite having many fine strands, the wire doesn't flex well. You can bend it, but wants to spring back and doesn't hold its shape. This made running the wire under the hood through the firewall, and along the door moulding... a LOT of work. I scraped a lot of knuckle in the process. Overall, I'd still recommend using it for automotive projects. It is a high quality wire. Just know that it's hard to manipulate though a lot of twists and turns.
