The Scratch of a Pen: 1763 and the Transformation of North AmericaIn this superb volume in Oxford's acclaimed Pivotal Moments series, Colin Calloway reveals how the Treaty of Paris of 1763 had a profound effect on American history, setting in motion a cascade of unexpected consequences, as Indians and Europeans, settlers and frontiersmen, all struggled to adapt to new boundaries, new alignments, and new relationships. In this superb volume in Oxford's acclaimed Pivotal Moments series, Colin Calloway reveals how the Treaty of Paris of 1763 had a profound effect on American history, setting in motion a cascade of unexpected consequences, as Indians and Europeans, settlers and frontiersmen, all struggled to adapt to new boundaries, new alignments, and new relationships.

Britain now possessed a vast American empire stretching from Canada to the Florida Keys, yet the crushing costs of maintaining it would push its colonies toward rebellion. White settlers, free to pour into the West, clashed as never before with Indian tribes struggling to defend their way of life. In the Northwest, Pontiac's War brought racial conflict to its bitterest level so far. Whole ethnic groups migrated, sometimes across the continent: it was 1763 that saw many exiled settlers from Acadia in French Canada move again to Louisiana, where they would become Cajuns. Calloway unfurls this panoramic canvas with vibrant narrative skill, peopling his tale with memorable characters such as William Johnson, the Irish baronet who moved between Indian campfires and British barracks; Pontiac, the charismatic Ottawa chieftain; and James Murray, Britains first governor in Quebec, who fought to protect the religious rights of his French Catholic subjects.

Most Americans know the significance of the Declaration of Independence or the Emancipation Proclamation, but not the Treaty of Paris. Yet 1763 was a year that shaped our history just as decisively as 1776 or 1862. This captivating book shows why.

Do not buy these
Color: Nude, Size: Women 9-13
These are terrible. They are designed to walk in. The first day I tried them on I walked about 20 steps and they basically ripped right off my feet. I didn’t think much of it and just thought ok I won’t walk in them I’ll just wear them to bed. The second pair that came with the order I wore to bed that night and woke up with holes tore in them. Terrible product

Durable

These are form-fitting and durable. Wearing these keeps the skin moisturizer in place so it can be effective.

Great Results
Color: White, Size: Women 9-13, Color: White, Size: Women 9-13
The Jfrhuds Moisturizing Silicone Socks work very well. I ordered the white 2-pack in the large size 9-13, and each came packaged in an individual zipper bag.  I wear a women's size 9-9.5, and they fit me perfectly.  I can see how they have enough stretch to fit larger sizes easily and comfortably. These socks are a lot thicker and heavier than I expected.  They are rubbery with non-slip treads on the bottom.  As soon as I put them on my feet, they actually felt very moisturizing and almost wet, even though I had not put moisturizer on my feet first.  Plus my feet felt cold at first. It was different than I expected, I had never worn this type of sock before, and it was an interesting sensation. They work great, and I am sold on the benefits of these socks.  I wear them to sleep at night and dodn't walk very far in them.  They seem pretty sturdy, but I don't want to push it and will just use them for their intended purpose.  My feet weren't super dry or cracked, but the socks really helped revive them and make them super soft again.  I love them; they are great for self-care and would also make a wonderful gift.

Not durable
Color: Nude, Size: Women 9-13
Only used two of them so far. One sock lasted nearly 3 wears. The other broke before I could finish wearing it the second time. Basically useless junk.
