It's this similarly transformative quality that reminds us of the work of the interdisciplinary Peruvian-born American artist Grimanesa Amorós, specifically her monumental light installation for Prospect Park in New York, Hedera (2018).

Region

Bourbon, Catimor, Typica, and Caturra varietals are grown in Chanchamayo, Peru at an elevation of 1220-1524 meters above sea level, then fully washed and patio dried.

Story

The La Florida Cooperative uses the revenue from their Fair Trade sales to provide education, infrastructure, credit, and environmental consciousness to this rural area. They established The Occupational Learning Center for Sustainable Agriculture, which offers training in environmentally-friendly farming techniques, as well as providing healthcare services in rural areas, technical assistance in crop diversification to create additional income, maintain roads, water systems, schools, a health clinic, and more to the region.

This reminds us of Amorós' "reputation for dazzling light installations that suggest the topographies of distant planets.” She wanted Hedera to bring viewers closer to a utopia in which people could “celebrate nature, diversity, creativity, and their shared humanity."
