Frequently asked questions

  • Q: What speed can I expect from this NIC?
  • A: Each port supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GBASE-T). With two active ports, the NIC can handle up to 20 Gbps of aggregate throughput, subject to your switch, cabling, and overall system load.
  • Q: Is this card compatible with Lenovo servers?
  • A: Yes. It is marketed as Lenovo compatible and is designed for use in Lenovo server environments, while also functioning in other PCIe-enabled servers that support the Intel X540-based NICs.
  • Q: Do I need special cables or switches?
  • A: You will need 10GBASE-T capable RJ-45 network cables (Cat6a or Cat7 recommended for optimal distance and performance) and a compatible 10 GbE switch or fiber aggregation environment if you’re connecting to a NAS, storage array, or virtualization host.
  • Q: What about virtualization and OS support?
  • A: The X540-based NICs provide hardware offloads and support for common virtualization deployments. They are compatible with Windows Server, various Linux distributions, and standard hypervisor platforms, with drivers available from Intel and system vendors.
  • Q: Do these cards require BIOS or firmware updates?
  • A: For best results, ensure the server BIOS/UEFI, NIC firmware, and driver versions are up to date per Lenovo and Intel guidance to maximize stability and performance.

It works but not so sure about the EMI/RFI noise filtering claim
Color: Black, Size: 8 Outlet, Style: Outlets Only
I only buy surge protectors that have EMI/RFI noise filtering. I have a sensitive short wave radio with a sleep timer that I use when going to sleep. It has a rechargeable battery so you can either use it plugged in or on battery power. I've always had static on the radio when it was plugged into this surge protector. Cords generally do cause interference in radios so I thought nothing of it. But it started to get really bad. So I took one of my old tripplite surge protectors with emi/rfi noise filtering and plugged the radio into that. No static or interference on the radio at all. I went to APC's website to see if this model has EMI/RFI and it looks like it does....but it sure doesn't work well on mine. I don't want to disparage APC. I have several of their surge protectors. Just bought the big P12U2 model they have and love that one. I think it just has better circuitry than this budget model. I'm using the P12U2 on my TCL 55" TV that was flickering and was glitchy turning on and off with a different surge protector from another company. Anyways, the ACP P12U2 works great and appears to have excellent noise filtering. Just wish the P12U2 had a flat plug because I bought it to use for my computer, but couldn't because I couldn't push my desk up against the wall with that straight out plug. Anyways, I've strayed. This is a good basic surge protector I suppose. Would not recommend it for sensitive electronics prone to interference. Then again, maybe I just had a bad one, who knows. APC is a great brand. All my surge protectors are either APC or TrippLite. Can't go wrong either way.

This works fine. Good size. Good enough cord length. Does what a power strip should do.

Great for multiple adapters
Color: Black, Size: 8 Outlet, Style: Outlets Only
One of the common flaws of single width strips is the inability to accommodate more than 1 adapter unless you want to waste the sockets as the adapter obstructs/covers the adjacent sockets. This one has 2 rows with sockets at 90 degrees. As such, adapters face outward and do not obstruct adjacent sockets. Well made and sturdy, typical of APC quality. Hopefully the surge protection won't be tested but gives you peace of mind to know that all plugged in devices are protected. I have it mounted under my office desk using the mounting holes at the back. Great value for the money.

A household staple
Style: Data/Line Protection - 12 ft
I use this power strip for both my computer and entertainment setup, and it has been very reliable. The seven outlets give me enough room for everything without having to use multiple strips. The cord is long enough to reach the wall easily while keeping things neat. It sits flat on the floor and does not tip over when everything is plugged in. The layout of the outlets makes it easy to plug in larger adapters without blocking others. It has already gotten a lot of use and should give me plenty more for years to come.
