Meliora is the third studio album by Swedish rock band Ghost, released on August 21, 2015. Produced by Klas Åhlund, the record refined the band’s blend of theatrical heavy metal, psychedelia, and melodic rock into something sharper and more accessible. Following the grand, organ-heavy sound of Infestissumam, Meliora placed the guitars back at the forefront, layered across a futuristic, dystopian concept that explored faith, emptiness, and the human search for meaning in a godless age.

The album features the Grammy-winning single “Cirice,” whose balance of menace and melody epitomizes Ghost’s knack for bridging classic metal with cinematic drama. Tracks like “From the Pinnacle to the Pit” and “He Is” display the range of their approach—one riff-driven and swaggering, the other hymn-like and unexpectedly tender. Åhlund’s polished production brings clarity and power to the band’s gothic textures, while the inclusion of choirs and mellotron adds a ghostly grandeur.

Critically acclaimed and commercially successful, Meliora earned Ghost their first major international breakthrough. It won Best Hard Rock/Metal Album at Sweden’s Grammis Awards, and Rolling Stone, Metal Hammer, and Revolver all named it among the best albums of 2015.
