Robert Stein Winery was founded in 1976, by the Stein family and is now in its 3rd generation, producing award-winning and estate grown and made wines. The Stein family were the first to successfully bring riesling into Australia when in 1838 Johann Stein immigrated from the Rheingau in Germany. Jacob Stein, Chief Winemaker, Managing Director and third generation Stein, is highly regarded as one of NSW wines stars, winning the 'Gourmet Traveller - Young Winemaker of the Year' (2012) as well as "Mudgee - Winemaker of the year" (2017-2021). The wines are produced from the family-owned 15 hectares using sustainable practices and the 600 acre farm also includes free-range pigs, cattle, sheep and cropping. The winery on site is organic certified, producing a selection of preservative-free and organic wines. A James Halliday Red 5 Star Rated Winery, and The Real Review Top 100 winery.
