The Black Box FlexPoint Transceivers and Media Converters are compact, versatile networking solutions designed to bridge copper Ethernet and fiber optic links with ease. Engineered for reliability in small offices, data centers, and edge environments, these devices let you extend your LAN reach without a complete switch upgrade. With full- and half-duplex support on both UTP and fiber ports, automatic speed sensing on the copper side, and practical controls to tailor operation to your network, FlexPoint transceivers deliver flexible connectivity for mixed environments. A user-friendly crossover option simplifies connections to hubs or switches, while wall-mount hardware enables secure installation in tight equipment spaces. Whether you’re creating a resilient link between a fiber backbone and a copper-access network or upgrading a legacy copper segment to fiber, these transceivers provide a straightforward, cost-effective solution.

  • Flexible port operation — Each unit supports both UTP copper and fiber links, with full- and half-duplex modes available on both ports. This versatility lets you integrate disparate network segments, extend reach, and maintain performance across diverse topologies. Whether you’re connecting a workgroup to a fiber campus backbone or extending a distance-limited copper network into a data closet, FlexPoint provides a seamless bridge between media types.
  • Automatic speed negotiation on the copper side — The UTP port automatically senses 10- or 100-Mbps Ethernet speeds, eliminating the guesswork and configuration steps that can slow down deployment. This auto-sensing capability helps ensure compatibility with a wide range of devices, from older hubs to modern switches, while maintaining reliable throughput and consistent network behavior.
  • Precise control with a manual override — A dedicated manual override switch gives you precise control over both fiber and UTP ports. This feature is especially helpful in environments where you need to enforce specific link modes, manage duplex settings, or test different configurations without changing other network equipment. It also provides a straightforward way to troubleshoot connectivity issues by forcing a known state on each port.
  • Built-in crossover switch for easy topology changes — The crossover switch enables direct, simple connections to hubs or switches when network wiring requires a crossover arrangement. This reduces the need for extra cabling or adapters and makes it easier to reconfigure layouts as your network grows or changes. It’s ideal for temporary lab setups, edge deployments, and space-constrained racks where quick reconfigurations matter.
  • Wall-mount capable for secure, space-saving installation — The design includes hardware suitable for mounting the converter to a wall or other stable surface, helping you keep cables organized and airflow unobstructed. This is particularly beneficial in crowded equipment rooms, on-wall rack enclosures, or under desks where desk space is at a premium. Durable construction and a compact footprint keep the unit unobtrusive while maintaining easy access for maintenance.

how to install Black Box FlexPoint Transceivers/Media Converters

  • Identify a suitable installation location with adequate ventilation and access to power and cables. Ensure there is enough clearance for connector access and any mounting hardware if wall-mounting.
  • Connect the fiber optic cable to the fiber port using the correct fiber type and connector. Handle fiber cables with care to avoid bending and damaging the fiber.
  • Attach the UTP copper cable to the UTP port using a standard RJ-45 connector. Route cables neatly to minimize strain and interference, and avoid tight bends in the cable.
  • Set the manual override switch to the desired position to control how the device prioritizes fiber versus copper performance, and use the crossover switch to choose straight-through or crossover operation as required by your network design.
  • Secure the unit in its mounting location, complete any required power connections if applicable, and verify connectivity by testing link status and data throughput between devices on either side of the transceiver.

Great way to keep your PC off the floor, especially with a standing desk
This mount is a great solution if you want to get your desktop tower off the floor and clean up the space around your desk. The construction feels very solid and once installed it holds the PC securely without any wobble. I like that the frame is adjustable so it can fit different case sizes, and the open design allows for good airflow while still supporting the case well. It is especially helpful if you have a standing desk. Keeping the tower mounted under the desk means all of the cables move with the desk when it raises or lowers, which makes everything much cleaner and easier to manage. Installation takes a little planning to line things up correctly, but once it is mounted it feels very secure. If you want a cleaner workspace and a better setup for a standing desk, this mount works really well.

Built Like a Tank… Maybe Too Big
This thing is solid. The build quality is exactly what you want when you’re hanging a PC under a desk—sturdy steel, secure mounting, and plenty of adjustability to fit larger cases. It definitely does its job of getting your tower off the floor and out of the way. That said, size matters here—and this is built for big cases. If your setup is more compact, it is overkill. Definitely measure before you commit, because while the adjustability is nice, it’s clearly designed with larger towers in mind. Pros: Very sturdy, confidence-inspiring build Adjustable to fit a wide range of larger PC cases Keeps PC off the floor (less dust, more space) Can mount under desk or on wall Cons: Oversized for smaller or mid-sized builds Requires careful measuring before install Bulkier than some alternative mounts Bottom Line: A heavy-duty mount that does exactly what it promises—just make sure your PC actually needs something this big before you commit.

Rock Solid and Computer / Wall Safe! Last PC Mount you'll ever need.
This is the hardware that you want in your office: robust, no-nonsense, and able to boss you around its workload. I installed a full size PC case/server in it, and it is rock solid once you lock it in. The open-frame design also merits a mention here as it greatly improves airflow and allows you to access ports on the motherboards and other hardware on your rig should you want to during your gaming sessions without bringing too much heat inside and causing headaches. The width of the holder can be adjusted (approximately 7.7” through 11.8”) in width and (approximately 20” through 25.8”) in height so it fits a large variety of towers, so you don't have to worry whether it could fit your set-up or not. Smaller towers may have substantially more wiggle room though. The mount's weight limit is no joke—up to 44 lbs—so you're not sacrificing stability just to save a few bucks. The shells are quite secure, although some people may have wished for a little more tightening bite; they still prevent your equipment from falling off if you accidentally bump on a wall, which is more important than you may think. A little nitpick: the lower wall-mount bracket could have a couple of extra pilot holes to reduce twisting over time. Not a breaker, just a heads-up for all of you who are looking to the long term. Altogether, it's a reliable, solid fix that is well worth the cost, particularly if you're cramming space and airflow in a tight configuration.

Best for a large PC case, works on smaller towers with mods
This thing is solid! I strongly recommend setting your tower on it to get a feel for the orientation you want before attaching it to your desk or wall. I had to re-mount mine because I had it positioned too far back to be able to plug cables into the PC tower. When the ad says its for a large PC tower they are not joking. I would consider my PC case to be a fairly average size but the bottom clamp and side arms don't hold my case at all. Theres a z shaped bracket included to attach to the main support and let it contact the desk or wall surface behind it. I used this part to wedge between the bottom clamp snd my PC case to hold it in place. My mount is still very sturdy without that bracket in place. I cheated during install and stacked some books under it to bring it up to the height of the bottom of my desk, made easy work of it. I really want to give it 5 stars but unfortunately the fitment issue leaves me hanging, literally. Maybe I will update my rig and get a larger PC case down the road. What I love about this item is my tower used to be on my desktop. Now its tucked away neatly and I was able to separate my 2 monitors more. Feels like a whole new workspace with less clutter and more table space for projects. Good item.
