"On Convex, as on many of his other albums, Schnitzler definitely used a sample-and-hold generator (S/H generator), a device that converts sounds stored as desired into random sequences of tones.
This is important to know because this album is also non-keyboard music, i.e., it was not played 'by hand'; instead, the experimental setup is: synthesizer -- sequencer -- S/H generator. Whether Schnitzler could foresee the respective results for each piece or whether he let himself be surprised is uncertain. But I believe he let himself be surprised and decided in each case whether to accept the result or not. Because one of the cornerstones of his artistic concept is controlled chance.
However, it is not this method that makes Convex so special, but the slow tempo of the music. With one exception, the other pieces are almost sluggishly slow. Schnitzler certainly never had ambient music in mind, as his music is defined throughout by transparency and dynamic movement. However, Convex does meet some of the criteria defined by Eric Satie for 'musique d'ameublement' and also the concept of 'ambient' further developed by Brian Eno: its calmness and apparent uniformity -- both of which require no attention and yet are a pleasant addition to the atmosphere of a room.
A prerequisite for this, however, is a discreet volume level. Schnitzler would probably turn in his grave if he knew that I was placing his music in the vicinity of ambient. And of course it's not ambient. With Convex, Schnitzler remains consistently true to himself. The only unusual thing is that he experiments with 'slowness' here. Schnitzler has carefully faded out some pieces, even though they are suitable for filling an entire LP side. If I were to stick with my thought experiment, this would be another characteristic of ambient music. Convex raises questions that cannot be answered with certainty. But that is precisely why Schnitzler's music remains so interesting." --Asmus Tietchens, 2025

Chicken Flavor Good, But 🔄 Rotation-Resistant✖; Best for Simpler Chewers
Size: X-Small, Color: Ring Bone, Size: X-Small, Color: Ring Bone
🐾 Hi, I’m PVD; plush sophisticate, chew critic, and active curator of rotational toy relevance.
This ring bone and I never fully bonded. I sampled it maybe five times in my entire puppyhood before quietly returning it to the bin (with a single judgmental glance).
Still, it does have value for the right pup.
⭐ Why I originally wanted to love it:
✔️ XS size works well for very young puppies
✔️ Chicken flavor lasts impressively long
✔️ Freezing offers temporary gum relief
✔️ Durable and safe; no odd odors or shredding
🌀 Why it’s now a respectful 3-star chew in my rotation:
✘ Never became a go-to toy (5 uses max in my life)
✘ Ring shape felt awkward, not natural or chic; hard to grip and maneuver
✘ Texture too tame vs. nubs or detailed chew surfaces
✘ When I was smaller, I much preferred the Nylabone Baby Blue Bone Chew Toy with nubs (my personal classic), and have since matured into nightly Nylabone “Nubz” edible bones
This Ring Bone is Best For:
• Very young puppies with minimal chew preferences
• Dogs who like simple textures and circular shapes
• Those just starting enrichment chew play
• Freezer treat rotations (briefly)
🚫 Not ideal for: picky pups, advanced chewers, or dogs who analyze toy ergonomics (like myself).
📝 Final Re-Barks:
A strong, well-made chew, but lacked the intrigue to make my permanent rotation. Works for basic chew enjoyment; not for pups with elevated taste or toy ambition.

Puppy loves it!
Size: X-Large, Color: Teething Bone, Size: X-Large, Color: Teething Bone
My small puppy loves this bone! I originally purchased this for a larger dog, but my small 10 pound puppy loves it more. It’s good quality and a softer material for puppies!

A hit, but could be stronger
Size: Medium, Color: Ring Bone, Size: Medium, Color: Ring Bone
Gave this to my 11 week old pittie, and she did significant damage within 15 mins. She left a pile of chewed bits on the couch but thankfully didn't eat them. Definitely don't leave unsupervised.
That said, she LOVED it and it seemed to help her teething gums so, I'm still giving it a 4/5

Great long lasting chew
Flavor Name: Peanut Butter, Size: Large, Flavor Name: Peanut Butter, Size: Large
We really like having these bones on hand to keep our power chewing pitties busy. The large sizes are super convenient and long lasting, and our dogs really seem to enjoy them. We have gone through several orders over the last few years, and I anticipate to keep buying this brand.
