Each Banksia Grinder is individually hand-turned in Margaret River from the Banksia grandis seed pod. Native to a narrow band of forest along Western Australia’s south-west coast, the tree produces a limited number of pods each season. Less than one in a hundred of these are large enough to be crafted into grinders, making each piece a true rarity.

From flower into rugged seed pod over two seasons, these striking pods develop and hold dozens of winged seeds, being visited by birds and bees over their lifecycle. Their life as a flower remains visible in the finished grinder, giving each one its own history and character. Hand-picked and preserved in time, no two pods, are ever alike.

The grinders are shaped with single-sweep curves and high-waisted forms that highlight the natural texture of the Banksia. Creating them is a slow and careful process, demanding patience as much as skill. Each piece reflects the nature of the craft itself—long hours at the lathe working with a material that is both rare and challenging.

Inside sits a state-of-the-art CrushGrind® mechanism, offering 14 coarseness settings and a lifetime guarantee. Fully enclosed within the pod, it creates a clean and elegant design, able to grind salt, pepper, or spices with ease.

What we love most about our banksia grinder is that it isn’t just admired - it’s handled, shared, and used everyday. It becomes a centrepiece of mealtimes, bringing design and function together in everyday use.

The surface is sealed with a natural blend of oils and waxes, giving durability while enhancing the softness to touch. The result is both visually striking and comfortable in the hand.

Dimensions are approximately 20cm in height and 6.5cm in diameter.

Please note: your banksia grinder will look very similar to the one shown, but its dimensions and grain will vary slightly depending on the pod from which it was made. Approximate height and width are provided as a guide. Care instructions are included to ensure it lasts a lifetime.

Whether kept on the table or given as a gift, these grinders are truly one of a kind. Due to the rarity of suitable pods, they are produced in very limited numbers. If out of stock, contact us for details of the next release.

Amazing product, definitely recommend!
Initially I was very skeptical about buying this product and kept talking myself out of it, did that a few times. I was under the impression that this was just an incredibly well orchestrated marketing campaign(it kept popping up all over social media) and people just out there overhyping it all. Yesterday I finally decided to give it a try and I have to say, BOY WAS I WRONG, this is probably the best hair product I’ve used in 15 years. Gives a natural matte look to your hair, it’s not greasy, gives plenty of volume and holds your styling in place in a very natural manner. The product also smells pretty good, HIGHLY recommend if you’re having doubts.

It delivers, but damn is it expensive
This product mainly shines because everything available at a brick and mortar shop is terrible - at least for men. This is great stuff, great hold without being greasy or turning your hair into spikes. No pungent odors. It's noted that it includes pine and sandalwood oil. There's definitely some pine, not getting any sandalwood. Regardless, it isn't a strong scent and that's how it should be. The tin is almost exactly the size of a snuff can. Expensive. But you don't really use much of it at one time.

2 complaints, otherwise great
This is a mostly great product. I only have 2 complaints - it’s really difficult to wash out, and the price. In my experience shampoo alone will not wash it out at all. Two-in-one products don't work. I have to use: 1. a shampoo 2. a conditioner 3. a shampoo again 4. More conditioner It does a really great job compared to other clays. I have short somewhat thin hair and it provides volume. It gives me the hold. I need all day. It smells great and it’s easy to work with. I wish it was cheaper. I feel like I’m paying extra for a cool looking tin. All that being said, I will be repeat customer

Just Okay...
This is an okay product. It works well for the first hour or two but then makes my hair very greasy - it feels like I haven't washed it in weeks. It's fairly sticky, which is great, but again it only lasts 2-3 hours for me before making my hair greasy. It smells great - I'll give them that. I'm glad it works for others but it's just not right for me.

Clay-Like Texture, All-Day Control
When my go-to pomade was discontinued, I had to start the search all over again. After seeing several ads for Highland Glacial Hair Clay Pomade on social media, I decided to give it a try and ordered a tin. Right out of the can, you can tell this product is different. It’s very thick—almost like actual clay. At first, I wasn’t sure how it would work with my shorter hair. Pro tip: lightly wet your hands before working it in. Once you add a little moisture and warm it up between your fingers, it spreads much more easily and evenly. Applying it to damp hair makes styling smooth and straightforward. When first applied, the hold feels strong and structured. As the day goes on, it relaxes slightly but still keeps your hair in place without looking stiff or overly styled. I appreciate that it maintains shape while allowing a more natural finish as the hours pass. It is more expensive than some other options out there, but in my opinion, the performance justifies the price. For reference, my hair is short—slightly longer than a typical military regulation cut—so this review reflects how it performs on shorter styles. Overall, I’m happy with the switch and would recommend Highland Glacial Hair Clay Pomade to anyone looking for a strong, workable hold with a natural feel.
