A natural cycle of sunlight and moonlight for your aquatic companions! This LED module from AQUAEL produces more illumination than standard fluorescent lamps while using up to 50% less energy and providing natural color temperatures. The light mimics various sunlight and moonlight phases: Sunny / Blue (dawn), Sunny (daylight), and Blue (moonlight) – perfect for both aquarium plants and animals. Additionally, the LEDs are designed for longevity. It’s an excellent choice for those looking to improve their aquarium’s environment effortlessly and affordably.

The module includes a modern LED unit, a glass housing to protect against moisture, and a cable with a switch. The system is splash-proof and can be easily operated near an aquarium, such as when mounted to the cover above the tank. The LEDDY TUBE modules are straightforward to install. Each model comes with specialized adapters for integration into any lighting fixture. The modules operate from an independent power source. Four variations of the product are available: two intended for freshwater aquariums (LEDDY SUNNY, which emits light at a color temperature of 8000 K similar to natural sunlight, and LEDDY PLANT with a color temperature of 9000 K, designed to promote aquatic plant growth) and two for marine aquariums (LEDDY MARINE, which emits light at a color temperature of 10000 K to enhance coral growth and LEDDY ACTINIC – 20000 K – for vibrant coral colors).

Technical data:

  • Power - 10 W
  • Current voltage - 220 V-50Hz
  • Length - 41.5 cm
  • Light temperature - 9000 K
  • IP class - IPX 8

Product More Details

Thanks to the LED technology utilized, energy consumption is significantly lower compared to traditional light sources, with a power draw of only 14 W. This is half the consumption of T5 (39 W) and T8 (30 W) fluorescent lamps. The key benefits of the Leddy Tube 2.0 include its long lifespan, minimal heat production in the aquarium, and easy installation within aquarium covers.

Modern LEDs have effectively replaced traditional fluorescent lamps, incandescent bulbs, and compact fluorescent lamps in the aquarist market. They offer numerous advantages, including a substantial reduction in electricity usage; they can produce the same light output as fluorescent lamps while using up to half the energy. This not only leads to lower electricity bills for aquarists but also benefits the environment. They have a long lifespan, lasting up to 15,000 hours, which results in further savings and less environmental impact, as well as reduced maintenance efforts. Additionally, they do not unnecessarily heat the aquarium water and provide focused illumination towards the water surface (eliminating the need for extra reflectors). Unlike traditional fluorescent lamps, they come with a two-year manufacturer's warranty.

Why do we illuminate the aquarium?

There are generally two main reasons. Firstly, lighting enhances the aesthetic appeal of the tank, creating a natural appearance. Proper lighting helps highlight the beautiful colors of the fish and plants, making the aquarium a stunning decoration for any room. Secondly, and just as crucial, most aquarists desire healthy, thriving plants in their aquarium. Plants require light for 10-12 hours each day to fuel photosynthesis—a natural process that converts inorganic compounds into essential organic substances for their growth. Therefore, choosing the right lighting ensures that the aquarium not only looks beautiful but also supports healthy plant growth.

The LEDs in the LEDDY TUBE SUNNY module emit light with a color temperature of 7000 K, providing optimal conditions for aquarium plants and ensuring accurate color reproduction for all aquatic inhabitants.

How much light does the aquarium require?

The light requirements of an aquarium depend on the types of plants being cultivated. Plants can be classified into three groups based on their light needs:

  • Group I – Shade-tolerant species, such as “pelia,” mosses, winged microzorium, screw diver, certain compact varieties (e.g., aponogetonolist, Wendt’s compact, Backett’s warbler, Malayan warbler), and anubias.
  • Group II – Moderately light-loving species, including spherical twig, water tintland, rhododendrons, tiger lotus, ludwigie, broad-leaved vodka, three-flowered vodka, monkfish, broad-leaved arrowhead, Argentine marsh, giant diver, compact limnophils, small-leaved bacopa, Thai krina, ponikło, Japanese gloss, and swordfish.
  • Group III – Definitely light-loving species, like cabombs, “glossostigma,” and hemiantus.

Typically, a standard measure for lighting power per liter of water in the aquarium is used. For LED lamps aimed at growing shade plants, a minimum of 0.15-0.2 W is recommended for each liter of water. Moderately demanding plants require 0.25-0.4 W/l, and highly light-loving plants may need 0.5-0.7 W/l.

The “day” in the aquarium can occur at virtually any time. If the tank is situated far from windows and relies solely on artificial lighting, the hours for switching the lights on and off can be tailored to your preferences and your usual presence in the home (for instance, “dawn” at 3 PM and “dusk” at 1 AM). This way, you can enjoy the beauty of your own “piece of the underwater world” at your convenience.

Essential for road tripping and camping in British Columbia.
Format: Spiral-bound
Just what we needed for a road trip with our truck camper to British Columbia and home by way of Jasper and Banff--the unexpected bonus was maps of that western part of Alberta that included the areas around Jasper and Banff. The provincial and regional parks are numerous; it is difficult to find hiking guidebooks for areas besides near Victoria. This Benchmark book has it all to help us find camping (even dispersed on public lands) and hiking and will help us narrow down any searches we might need to do on the web. This gets added to our growing collection of Benchmark and Delorme map books for the western US states.

Another fine Benchmark Atlas.
Format: Spiral-bound
We travel a lot and own 6 benchmark atlases now. They're the finest on the market and include camping and fishing information and show the forest service and other backroads. What's special about the British Columbia atlas is that it is spiral bound. I just replaced my Oregon atlas after 20 years because the cover had ripped up and torn off and the pages were falling out. I hope they will all be spiral bound from now on.

Another good Benchmark Atlas
Format: Spiral-bound
We camp frequently and own all of the Benchmark Atlases. Although, this is different due to Canadian laws, we are excited to try it out! Very detailed with information, such as small campgrounds and identifying land ownership (Forest services or BLM)
