Absolutely floored by our find, we spent all day walking in circles around this mesmerizing feat of aviation photographing it from every angle possible. After a lot of research, we determined that this plane is a DC-3. The DC-3 revolutionized aviation and was the very first successful and profitable passenger airplane. In WW2, the DC-3 was renamed as the C-47 and was used on D-day to drop paratroopers behind enemy lines. It is absolutely mind-blowing to think that paratroopers could have jumped out of this very plane at one point in history. These planes were so well built that many of them are still flying today, and many people consider them to be one of the greatest feats in aviation history. I can't help but wonder what this old plane has been through and seen, and how it ended up parked in a field in the middle of nowhere.
