Atlas Hyper 2.0 speaker cables are engineered with neutrality, speed and a wide dynamic range as primary design objectives. The Hyper 2.0 is a superb cable ideally suited for continuous listening over a prolonged period without causing listener fatigue.

Hyper 2.0 speaker cables feature very high purity (99.9999%) OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) 2.0mm² conductors with an advanced PTFE (Teflon™) dielectric. It’s a combination most unusual at this price point, and it means the cable offers an exceptional performance which is well suited to considerably more expensive systems than its price tag might suggest.

The increased diameter conductors on the Hyper 2.0 offer improved bass performance over the 1.5 version. The conductor quality and high-efficiency dielectric allow Hyper to reveal more of the performance level your equipment is capable of, being fast and dynamic without suffering the ruthlessly analytical character sometimes mistaken for additional ‘detail,’ but which is ultimately fatiguing.

Atlas Z-Plugs

Atlas’ proprietary Z-plug is a low-mass, self-cleaning, solder-free construction speaker plug.

Oxygen Free Copper (OFC)

OFC is produced through an extrusion process which takes place in an oxygen-free-inert-gas atmosphere. This leads to a reduced oxygen content (10 ppm) when compared to Tough Pitch Copper (TPC) and an improvement in conductivity which typically measures in at between 0.5% and 2% greater than TPC. The OFC process therefore produces a much higher quality audio cable than the TPC process. High purity conductors sound clearer than their unprocessed (TPC) counterparts because there are fewer crystal boundaries present to cause signal degradation.

PTFE Dielectric

PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) is cheap to produce and, as such, is the most commonly used insulation in AV cables. However, PVC is the worst quality insulation a Hi-Fi or AV signal can encounter as its high loss causes a significant reduction in signal velocity. PVC is better suited to power cables and should be avoided in Hi-Fi and AV signal cables.

Other dielectrics in common use are Polyethylene, Polypropylene and Polytetrafluoride Epoxy (better known as PTFE (Teflon™) or Teflon,) and the new and unique Atlas (PTFE).

PTFE (Teflon™) is usually applied at higher temperatures and in combination with OFC conductors. OCC materials don’t like high temperatures (soldering, applying the dielectric etc.) so application of a low temperature PTFE (Teflon™) or FEP work best with OCC conductors. This is especially critical at smaller conductor sizes.

The table below shows the properties of a selection of dielectrics. Though not used as a dielectric in Atlas’ cables, PVC is included for comparison purposes. Multi-Core Construction

A pair of identically matched conductors (one for signal path, the other acts as the return conductor) enclosed within a non-conducting screen.

Termination

This cable is custom-made according to customers specific requirements as selected by the various dropdown options above. We can terminate your speaker cable using either Atlas’ gold-plated 4mm banana/BFA Z-Plugs, spade Plugs or Tin-Cobalt banana/BFA Z-Plugs. Cables are professionally terminated using a cold-weld method by Future Shop’s engineers and guaranteed for 10 years. The plugs are put on using a cold weld method with an official tool supplied by Atlas. Cold-welding does not involve solder and means the plug is crimped around the conductors at 360 degrees’ under very high pressure to form an air tight seal which prevents the conductors from oxidizing. This forms a better contact than soldering. Furthermore, the conductor is in full contact with the plug, and the plug is in 360-degree contact with the binding post of your equipment which means signal flow is maximised from the cable into your equipment.

We recommend the Atlas gold-plated Z-plugs as the primary choice of plug for your cables as these offer excellent value for money as well as high-performance. The Atlas Z-plugs and the Tin-Cobalt Z-plugs are identical except, the Atlas Z-plugs have a plastic outer barrel and the Tin-Cobalt plugs have a metal outer barrel. The plug itself is identical on both and therefore the Atlas Z-plug is the best choice in our view.

A Great Historical Noir
Format: Kindle
As a lifelong Angeleno, the dark history of the city is often glossed over. Much like Chavez Ravine, the history of Union Station is one of violence and the forced displacement of the original Chinatown and its residents. It's in this setting where the mysterious death of Chinese actress Lulu Wong (who is somewhat based on the real life of actress Anna Mae Wong) begins, and took me into the lives of the amazing Chow sisters - May and Gemma - both of whom have their own reasons for wanting justice. They know the LA cops won't bother to solve the death of a Chinese woman, no matter how famous. It's also a matter of saving their beloved Chinatown from being destroyed in order to build Union Station. I absolutely loved how immersive this story felt and how authentic all of the characters were.

Always the last person you can think of is the murderer. The same with this book also. I love learning about new cultures and you can learn some things about Chinese culture from this book. So interesting

Pretty good
Format: Hardcover
In 1932, Lulu Wong made a name for herself by leaving Chinatown and becoming a Hollywood star. Most girls who look like her don't get lead roles, so Lulu is the pride of her neighborhood. So everyone is shocked when Lulu's body is found in a local stable far from her Beverly Hills home by her friends, sisters May and Gemma. The girls know that the police won't look too hard into the murder, so they decide to take matters into their own hands. As they investigate, the sisters discover a plot to frame Chinatown as a den of iniquity that should be demolished in favor of constructing a new train station. May and Gemma soon find themselves in a race against time to not only find justice for their friend but save their neighborhood, all while being targeted by a killer. I've only read a few books by Lee, but they've all been winners. I love her style when it comes to YA historical fiction. She crafts compelling plotlines that include real issues of the time with characters you can't help but root for. I liked both our main characters. May was more logical and reserved, while Gemma was a spitfire, but they balanced each other perfectly. I liked how we got both of their POVs, but I did enjoy Gemma's slightly more because I loved her gumption. I thought the mystery was well-paced and kept me intrigued. I had no clue how it would play out, and I liked how Lee wrapped it all up. It did drag a bit in the middle, but overall, I thought it was entertaining.

not as good but nearly there
Format: Kindle
I had hoped that Kill Her Twice would grab my attention in the first few pages and not let go till the very end (like her other books I have read), but this one had a very. Slow. Start. The mystery of the death of a young Chinese starlet in California in the early 1900’s is the catalyst that starts everything: new characters are continuously introduced, their motivations becoming clear and murky and clear again several times before the last quarter of the book. But. The last quarter (finally) had me hooked.
