The Middle Years 1923-1937 and Later Years 1937-1952 (Hard Cover)

by Violette Nakhjavani

Completing the story of the Maxwells, including the pilgrimages of May and Mary Maxwell in the early years of the Guardian's ministry; their contributions to the advancement of the Bahá'í Faith in Canada, the United States, France and Germany; the marriage of Mary Maxwell to Shoghi Effendi; and Sutherland Maxwell's crowning achievement as architect of the Shrine of the Báb.

Volume II (Middle and Late Years) covers the years 1923–1952. Beginning with the early ministry of the Guardian and the pilgrimage of May and her daughter in 1923/4, it describes Mary’s education as a young Bahá’í, her pilgrimage during her adolescence and the growth of the youth movement in Montreal, as well as the family’s services to the Bahá’í Faith in Canada and the United States during the 1920s and 30s. It then moves to Europe, where May in France and Mary in Germany contributed to the advancement of these Bahá’í communities between 1935 and 1937. But in 1937 Mary’s marriage to Shoghi Effendi changed the lives of the family for ever. As Amatu’l-Bahá Rúhíyyih Khánum she would be called to extraordinary heights of service and sacrifice. The final part of the book (Late Years) gives an account of May’s heroic services before her passing in Argentina in 1940, and describes Sutherland’s remarkable architectural achievement as architect of the Shrine of the Báb during his final years in the Holy Land.

Good purchase
Size: 4 Panel-88‘’Wide, Color: Black
Very easy to assemble. Good quality. The material is thick enough to block the light and gives much needed privacy.

Worked as expected however storing it was not so easy. The feet did not collapse one over the other but provide privacy.

Perfect size, good privacy
Size: 4 Panel-88‘’Wide, Color: Black
This is a good divider. The dark, thick panels provide blockage from the light. Assembly was not very hard, but it wasn't simple. I ordered this product two times in the past couple of weeks. The first time I assembled it, I noticed that the picture assembly directions aren't completely accurate. The labeled parts don't match the labels on the instructions. The wrench included in my box is too big for any of the bolts or screws used for assembly. After getting the right tools and matching against the instructions, I finally got it assembled. The divider I ordered this week is missing two wheels and there is no number for calling the supplier; thus, I seem forced to return it, instead of easily getting the two wheels. Once assembled, I am pleased with the end product and I consider it a good value.
