This forged Damascus skinning knife is built for hunters and outdoor users who need a compact, reliable blade for field work. The 3-inch blade handles game processing, skinning, and detail cutting with full control. The black Micarta handle keeps the grip secure in wet or dry conditions. Total length runs 6 inches from tip to handle end. A leather sheath is included for safe belt carry in the field.

The Blade

The blade runs 3 inches and is forged from layered 1095 high-carbon steel and 15N20 nickel alloy using a pattern-welded Damascus method. The two steels are stacked, heated, and hammer-welded into a single solid billet. Acid etching after forging reveals the flowing Damascus surface pattern across the blade. Every knife carries a slightly different formation from the forging process.

Heat treatment brings the blade to 58–60 HRC. That range holds a sharp working edge through sustained field use without becoming brittle under impact or twisting load during skinning work.

The skinner blade profile carries a curved belly that follows the contour of game cleanly during field dressing. The drop point tip improves accuracy during detail cuts and reduces the risk of puncturing the hide or cavity wall during skinning strokes. The compact 3-inch length gives full control close to the hand — exactly what precise field work requires.

The Handle

The 3-inch handle is made from black Micarta. Micarta is built from layers of linen or canvas fabric saturated with resin and compressed under heat. The result is a fully sealed, non-porous handle that resists moisture, blood, and field debris completely. It does not warp, swell, or crack under outdoor conditions.

Black Micarta has a slightly textured surface that maintains grip security with wet or cold hands during active field use. It requires no oiling or conditioning — wipe clean, and it is ready for the next task.

Full Tang Construction

This knife is full tang. The blade steel runs the complete 6-inch length from tip to handle end, pinned through the black Micarta for permanent structural integrity. Full tang eliminates blade flex under lateral pressure during skinning strokes and keeps the knife solid under sustained field load.

The Leather Sheath

The included leather sheath is hand-stitched and sized for a secure fit around the blade. It attaches to a standard belt for hands-free carry during hunting and camping trips. The sheath protects both the blade edge and the user during transport between tasks.

FAQs

Is Damascus steel suitable for hunting and skinning knives?

Yes — layered Damascus steel holds a sharp edge through sustained field use and resists wear during repeated skinning strokes.

What makes black Micarta better than wood for outdoor use?

Micarta is fully non-porous and maintains grip security with wet or cold hands. Wood absorbs moisture and can swell or crack in outdoor conditions.

Does this knife include a sheath?

Yes — a hand-stitched leather sheath is included and fits standard belts for hands-free field carry.

Is a 3-inch blade practical for field dressing?

Yes — a compact blade gives more control during skinning and detail cuts than a longer blade. The curved belly and drop point tip are specifically designed for this task.

Can this knife handle everyday outdoor tasks beyond hunting?

Yes — the compact fixed blade suits camping, bushcraft, food prep, and general outdoor cutting tasks equally well.

How should this knife be maintained after field use?

Wipe the blade clean, dry it immediately, and apply a light coat of food-safe mineral oil. Store in the leather sheath away from moisture.

Great for boys AND MOMS
Format: Paperback
Saw an ad for the series online and wanted to buy just one book to try. Received with 2 day Prime. Book was new. So, not only does this book have an incredible, intriguing story that sucked in my 10 year old who hates reading and struggles to read, it had me at Hello. The beginning of the book is filled with recipes! Was totally not expecting that! So for this Momma, under promise-over deliver was the theme here. Purchasing the rest of the books! Also look online for worksheets that parents have put together to go along with these books. Totally worth it. Happy Reading! AND Cooking!

Great reads for all levels
Format: Paperback
I bought 2 for a 6th grade boy I tutor. He has a beginning interest in history. He's been 'eating' these books up! These are well written, but not complex to turn a young reader off. There are many alternative resources to listed to dive into if a particular person or event sparks interest with the reader. There is appropriate vocabulary with explanations on some- others open a chance for my student & I to have a deeper discussion to clarify meaning & connect information.

Great book for an (almost) 11 year old to learn about WW2
Format: Paperback
My (almost) 11 year old says he enjoyed this book because it gives specific details and has pictures of what was going on making it easy to understand what was happening. The only thing he’d change was that the pictures weren’t in color (lol)!
