Grown in the limestone soils of Burgenland, he channels his origins with aromatic intensity and a cheeky wink—think lychee, peach, sage, pineapple, white pepper, and a touch of ginger. There’s a hint of residual sugar, sure, but it’s all beautifully balanced by a fine spine of acidity and an oxidative edge that adds depth and intrigue.

Fermented with wild yeasts and aged in big old oak barrels, Emmeram sees no added sulphites, allowing his true character to shine through—expressive, playful, and disarmingly honest. Aromas swirl between the exotic and the herbal, making each glass feel like a conversation: surprising, delightful, and full of dry humour.

Gut Oggau—helmed by Eduard and Stephanie Tscheppe-Eselböck—is a 13-hectare biodynamic estate in Burgenland, Austria, just near Lake Neusiedl. Since taking over a long-forgotten 17th-century winery in 2007, the duo has breathed life into their vines and cellar, crafting wines that are as much about personality as they are about terroir. Every member of the Gut Oggau “family” has their own story, and Emmeram is no exception—open-minded, spiced with wit, and undeniably singular.
