100°C AC Thermal Fuse. Used in models 6009, 6009A, 6010A, and YA167B, this fusible link is in the AC circuit on the primary side of the transformer. It is found tucked into the transformer windings where it is exposed to the heat generated by the transformer. It protects the transformer from excessive heat by interrupting the AC power to the transformer when blown. This link is a non-reset fuse and must me replaced if blown.
There have been two types of fusible links used by Associated Equipment and both have been supplied as replacements under the part number 610242. They are easily distinguishable when comparing the images of both here. It is recommended that you replace a blown fuse with a new fuse of the same type. See the descriptions below and refer to the product images to determine which type you need.
Select the type needed for your charger when ordering.
-
Axial Type - This is the oldest style fuse. It has been used in both early and late charger models. It is similar in appearance to an in-line resistor. The Axial type has at times been replaced by the canister type, but is currently still in use and available. The Axial type includes connectors for attachment to wires. When replacing, note the orientation of the old fuse "cone" and install the new fuse in the the same orientation.
- Canister Type - This is the "newer" style and has been used intermittently in later model chargers. It is easily distinguishable with two wires attached to the same side of a small, flat metal "canister". The canister assembly is encased in a protective layer of heat shrink with the wire leads protruding. The Canister type includes connectors for attachment to wires.
