Easy-to-carry hydrolyzed amino tablets with a collagen-heavy amino mix

Metabolic Nutrition Amino 4500 is a classic amino tablet setup with a 4,500mg hydrolyzed protein amino acid mix per 3-tablet serving. That's key—it's not a fancy high-leucine EAA designed to kickstart muscle building by itself, and it doesn't claim to be. Instead, it gives you a wide range of aminos in an easy tablet, heavy on collagen-related ones: L-glycine (927mg), L-glutamic acid (558mg), L-proline (518mg), L-hydroxyproline (513mg), and smaller hits of alanine, arginine, lysine, leucine, valine, threonine, phenylalanine, isoleucine, hydroxylysine, histidine, methionine, tyrosine, and ornithine HCl.

Glycine tops the list at 927mg. It's a building block for collagen and helps make glutathione, your body's top antioxidant, plus it plays roles in your nerves as a calming signal and a brain booster. Studies on glycine alone often use about 3g, so this dose is lower but still adds up in a collagen-style blend. In real life, you won't feel a buzz, but it helps with steady tissue repair and keeping aminos available.

Proline (518mg), hydroxyproline (513mg), and hydroxylysine (54mg) back up that joint and tissue focus. Proline keeps collagen strong, while hydroxyproline is key to collagen's structure and supports tendons, ligaments, skin, and joints. Research on collagen peptides usually goes for 1-2g+ of hydroxyproline, so these are helpful add-ons, not full standalone doses. The profile shows what this is: more about collagen support than muscle-pumping aminos.

L-arginine is present at 378mg, well below the 3-6g typ

Key Highlights

  • 4,500mg hydrolyzed protein amino acid mix per serving — that's a solid spread of aminos in just 3 tablets. The big win is how easy it is: no shaker, no mess, no hassle, just quick aminos when a meal isn't happening.
  • 927mg L-Glycine — the biggest amino here and a key player in collagen. It also helps build glutathione, your body's main antioxidant, so it's useful for more than just protein basics.
  • 518mg L-Proline plus 513mg L-Hydroxyproline — this combo screams collagen support. These aminos help build and stabilize connective tissues, which is huge for joints, tendons, and ligaments when you're training hard.
  • Full amino breakdown on the label — no hidden prop blends. In a world where some old amino products keep it vague, Amino 4500 shows you exactly what's inside.
  • 3g protein per serving in tablet form — not a full meal, but a handy boost between eats. It's perfect for guys who know daily protein is king and need help when life throws off their routine.
  • 378mg L-Arginine — not enough for real nitric oxide pumps, and that's straight up. It adds to the overall mix, but think of this as an amino tablet, not a pump chaser.
  • 131mg Leucine, 108mg Valine, and 68mg Isoleucine — BCAAs are in there, but at backup levels, not like a full performance dose. This makes it great for extra amino help, not solo muscle building.
  • 558mg L-Glutamic Acid — a good chunk that helps with amino handling in your body. It comes from the hydrolyzed protein base and keeps the formula solid.

Who Is This For?

  • Busy gym folks training before work or between stuff, not wanting to haul powder and a shaker. Amino 4500 gives portable aminos in 3 tablets, easy to stash in a bag, car, or drawer.
  • Classic bodybuilding fans who dig amino tablets for between-meal boosts over all-powder life. The wide mix and pill form fit that old-school routine, especially if flavors bore you.
  • Strength trainers cutting who need steady aminos on low calories. It's not a meal swap, but it bridges gaps when hunger, schedule, or timing sucks.
  • Athletes wanting more collagen-style aminos like glycine, proline, hydroxyproline, and hydroxylysine. It's spot-on for heavy wear on tissues from lifting, sports, work, or high reps.
  • Active folks over 40 who like tablets better than powders and want simple, stim-free aminos. The tissue-focused mix suits joint and tendon support more than workout hype.
  • People nailing daily protein but wanting easy extra aminos between. Here, it's backup coverage without overpromising.

How to Use

Take 3 tablets per serving with plenty of water. Best times are between meals, pre or post-workout, or when a full protein hit isn't possible; it's built for convenience, so sticking to it beats perfect timing. If tablets are new to you or you want to ease in, start with 1-2 to check comfort, then go full. No stims mean no cycling needed. Food doesn't kill its value, so with or without meals is fine, but between makes sense for gaps. Stack with whey or a meal for real muscle recovery, since leucine here isn't enough alone. It goes well with creatine, collagen, electrolytes, and pre-workouts—no stim clashes. Keep it cool and dry, bottle closed to keep tablets fresh.

What to Expect

First 0-10 minutes: you take 3 tablets with water and feel nothing big, since it's stim-free aminos, not a quick pre-workout. 10-40 minutes: no energy spike or pump; it's more about easy support. In the gym, if you take it before or during, it's background nutrition, not a front-and-center boost. Days 1-7: the win is you actually get aminos in those skipped spots. Weeks 2-4: it's all about steady use, helping with meal gaps and giving glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline for tissue-heavy training. This doesn't 'hit' suddenly; it shines by making your plan easier to follow.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much amino acid material does Metabolic Nutrition Amino 4500 provide per serving?

Each 3-tablet serving provides 4,500mg of hydrolyzed protein amino acid matrix and 3g of protein. It is designed as a compact amino tablet serving, not as a full replacement for a standard 20-30g protein shake.

Is Amino 4500 a good substitute for whey protein after training?

No. Amino 4500 works best as supplemental amino support when a full meal or protein shake is not practical. Research on muscle protein synthesis typically uses 20-30g of intact protein or substantially higher essential amino acid and leucine intake than this formula provides.

Does Amino 4500 contain enough leucine to trigger muscle protein synthesis on its own?

Not by modern sports nutrition standards. This formula provides 131mg leucine per serving, while dedicated leucine-trigger or EAA products typically aim for around 2.5g or more leucine to robustly stimulate mTOR and muscle protein synthesis.

Why does this formula contain so much glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline?

That amino pattern reflects a collagen-leaning hydrolyzed protein source. Glycine, proline, hydroxyproline, and hydroxylysine are strongly associated with collagen structure, which gives Amino 4500 a more connective-tissue-oriented profile than a modern EAA drink.

Is Amino 4500 a pump supplement?

No. It contains 378mg L-arginine, which is well below the 3-6g range typically studied for nitric oxide and blood flow support. This product should be judged as an amino tablet, not as a pre-workout pump formula.

When should I take Amino 4500?

The best use is between meals, around training, or any time your schedule makes a full protein feeding inconvenient. Since it is stimulant-free, there is no wrong time from an energy or sleep perspective.

Can I stack Amino 4500 with creatine or a pre-workout?

Yes. It stacks very cleanly with creatine monohydrate, pre-workouts, hydration products, and whey protein because it contains no caffeine or overlapping ergogenic stimulants. In most cases, a creatine plus protein stack will complement this product better than replacing either of them.

Is this formula fully transparent?

Yes. The amino breakdown is disclosed, which is a real strength for this category. That transparency also makes it easy to see that the formula is broad-spectrum and collagen-forward rather than a high-leucine anabolic formula.

How many tablets are in one serving?

One serving is 3 tablets. That makes it practical for gym bags, travel kits, and workday use when carrying powder and a shaker is inconvenient.

Who benefits most from Amino 4500?

It is best for people who want convenient amino support in tablet form, especially those with inconsistent meal timing or a preference for old-school amino tablets. It is also more relevant for users who appreciate the collagen-associated amino profile rather than expecting a modern EAA performance formula.

Transformed my feet
Flavor Name: XL silicone socks 2 pairs
After trying several other brands that actually my size did not have the luxury feeling of these. T although x large they have the BEST feel and function. I put lotion on then slip them on and within a few minutes my dry cracked heals are soft. Really a nice product.

Keeps my wild child busy!
Color: Orange
*UPDATE 1/10/26* Does my pup love it? Yes. 5 stars for that. His big thing is just holding it in his mouth though, and laying down with it. Then he will put it down, and as soon as it rolls away he gets up and grabs it again. He definitely requires attention from his humans when it’s turned on…kind of defeats the purpose of why I bought it! He’s a needy boy, that’s for sure, so it’s not the toy’s fault. Two improvements I’d love to see though, are 1) the ability to turn off that yappy bark. I think my dog is more excited about it moving and not so much the yapping. Not that it’s bad, but my boy doesn’t bark much so I’m used to a quieter household. And 2) when removing the base for powering off, there should be a sensor so it doesn’t keep spinning in the socket, occasionally slipping out and hitting the floor. I worry about it breaking due to this. This thing arrived today and we couldn’t wait till Christmas to give it to our high play drive Australian Shepherd. It’s been barely above zero for weeks with no end in sight, and I have cold weather asthma so I really try to limit my exposure to the elements. Needless to say, my dog has been B O R E D. He truly craves interactive play with his humans, but last week I bought a cheap r/c cat toy that really caught his attention. So I splurged on this toy and so far, it’s AWESOME. He can’t control himself when the rope starts spinning. He pounces on it and it goes spinning off and around. He keeps picking it up thinking it’ll stop, but it keeps going. After 5 minutes of play he was acting completely gassed, but he just can’t resist it, as he put it down to get a drink of water and it started spinning again. Forget the water, I need that toy! As long as this thing can handle the teeth, slobber, dirt and grime, I’ll be a repeat customer!

My dog loves it...but needs charging four, five times a day. You really need 2 for full-time play
Color: Blue
My dog loves this toy. The first time she saw it and it started rolling, bounding, and waving the ropes around...she was barking at it, chasing it, grabbing it, jumping all over the place. There is no other toy she has that she will leave this for. And...that's part of the problem. I have to take this away from her three, four, five times a day to recharge it. The charge barely lasts an hour and the toy is dead. And it takes over an hour to charge it all the way up. Which means she plays with it less than it spends charging. That's not ideal. The product page and manual that comes with the toy says there is a 10-minute play period followed by a 30-minute interval to let the dog cool down...not get overly stimulated. I have never seen a cool-down period. I don't know if it's because the dog plays with it, shakes it around, tosses it and chases it, etc., etc., etc. constantly...but it just keep going until the battery is dead. I wish it did have a cool-down period. She likes playing with the ropes and rolling it around herself even after the battery dies, so if there was a cool-down, maybe it wouldn't need to be charged many times a day. Once it's charged and she sees me putting it back together, she gets very excited and starts jumping up and trying to grab it. Our corgi reduces most rope toys to threads in a day or less, and this one has held up surprisingly well against her super-chewing habits. The material the ball part is made of is very durable (we have a couple other toys with the same type of shell) and she's chewed on them all a lot without any damage. The toy keeps her entertained and happy...when it's not on the charger. I wish it was a good-enough value for the money to be able to justify buying two of them so I could have one charging while she was playing with the other. ================= I'm adding 1 star, because the company customer service is outstanding. They emailed me about my concerns vis-a-vis the short battery life, and it seemed that they really listened and cared about my input. I don't know what, if anything, can be done to extend the battery life given that it's spinning some substantial pieces of rope around, but I think they'll do as much as they can. In the meantime, my dog's love for this toy has not diminished in the least. She still gets very excited when she sees me starting to put it together after it's done charging, and she ignores everything else (sometimes even offers of treats) to play with it. I have a second one now, and I can almost keep them going full-time, but the few minutes every couple hours when both of them are on the charger is probably good for her anyway...she'd probably be over-stimulated if she had one of these to chase non-stop. Summary: Great toy, lots of fun, my dog loves it. However, you really need two the way things are right now unless you are okay with your dog being able to play less than half the time.
