Dreamstate Double IPA | Kettlehead Brewing Company | Tilton, New Hampshire

From Kettlehead Brewing Company in Tilton, New Hampshire—a brewery committed to "an endless pursuit" of building better beer—comes Dreamstate, their flagship Double IPA that has earned a devoted following throughout New England and beyond. Operating out of a minimalist industrial space with locations in Tilton, Franklin, and Nashua, Kettlehead has built its reputation on crafting top-tier New England-style IPAs alongside a diverse range of styles from Berliner Weisse to Russian Imperial Stouts.

Dreamstate represents everything Kettlehead does best: bold hop character, meticulous balance, and an intensely flavorful drinking experience that manages to be both powerful and smooth. This is a beer that lives up to its name—transporting you to a hazy, hop-saturated state of bliss with every sip.

Beer Profile:

At 8-8.4% ABV (depending on batch), Dreamstate is an Imperial/Double New England-style Hazy IPA that's absolutely dripping with Mosaic and Rakau hops—a combination that delivers serious tropical resin saturation. The beer pours a murky, hazy yellow-gold to burnt yellow with 3 fingers of creamy, fizzy off-white head that slowly settles to a cap, leaving decent lacing down the glass.

The nose is intensely tropical and incredibly inviting. Mosaic hops shine through with their signature blueberry character—perhaps the most blueberry-forward expression of Mosaic you'll encounter—mingling with bright aromas of tangerine, mango, pineapple juice, orange, grapefruit, and ripe stone fruit. Earthy herbal hops, a touch of dank weed, and sweet crackery malt round out the complex bouquet, with subtle notes of resin and pine lurking beneath the fruit-forward aromatics.

On the palate, Dreamstate delivers tropical resin in waves. The taste opens with sweet, ripe grapefruit and orange juice, followed by layers of pineapple, mango, guava, honeydew melon, blueberry, and overripe cantaloupe. There's a substantial crackery, bready malt backbone that provides structure without weighing things down, along with grassy, earthy hops that add complexity. The finish brings orange zest, subtle resin, light pine notes, and a touch of caramel sweetness, all balanced by firm but not aggressive bitterness. Some batches feature a creamy citrus quality with floral-type sweetness becoming noticeable around the edges.

The mouthfeel is medium-bodied with smooth, gentle carbonation that keeps this 8%+ beer incredibly drinkable. It's juicy, slightly slippery, and rich without being heavy—the hallmark of a well-crafted Double IPA. Despite the higher ABV, there's no alcohol bite; it goes down very smooth, making it dangerously easy to enjoy.

Overall: Dreamstate is a very solid, well-balanced, and harmonized New England DIPA. Hoppy and sweet with serious tropical character, this is a beer that exemplifies the style while maintaining excellent drinkability. The combination of fruit and funk, resin and juice, makes for an engaging and thoroughly enjoyable hop experience.

Hard to Beat for the Price
Size: 10 Wide, Color: Tan Leather Burnished
I purchased these for a business trip to Italy and wore them daily for the two weeks that I was there, during which I walked extensively. For me, there was a break-in period of a few days; before it loosens up, it will bite your heel, so I recommend wearing bandages or heel pads initially. Following the break-in, it's a very comfortable shoe and has served me well. I purchased a wide, and for this shoe, I found the width agreeable; in my experience, Cole Haan wide widths tend to be hit or miss (i.e., a wide is sometimes not all that wide). In terms of durability, I would not expect these to remain in good condition for more than a year if you wear them daily. The leather is not of high quality, but it's acceptable for the price. Expect them to crease very quickly if not using shoe trees. That doesn't bother me, but I know some find it objectionable. All in all, I like them and would buy them again. It's a comfortable alternative to traditional dress shoes for the office and works equally well for casual wear. Most higher quality options cost at least two or three times as much, and many are unavailable in a wide.

My favorite shoes
Size: 14 Wide, Color: White Leather
I’ve probably purchased like 40 pairs of these shoes or more. By far my favorite white sneaker. I have a large foot so the bigger sizes are appreciated. They’re versatile, literally go with anything and they are true to size. At a certain point they start to show wear and you can’t dress them up, but they last as a regular sneaker for a long time afterwards. I try to nab them on sale when they drop to $50-$70, absolute steal at that price point.

Clean Look, Super Comfortable – Instantly a Favorite
Size: 9.5, Color: White Leather
These sneakers are exactly what I was looking for—sleek, minimal, and incredibly comfortable right out of the box. The white leather looks sharp and pairs easily with everything from jeans to chinos, even dressed-down office wear. What surprised me most was the comfort. The sole is lightweight with just the right amount of cushioning, making them perfect for walking around all day. I’ve worn them on long city days and never felt sore or tired. They fit true to size (I’m a 9.5 and they’re spot on), and the quality feels premium. If you're after a versatile white sneaker that balances style and comfort, these are 100% worth it.

Not for all surfaces.
Size: 11.5 Wide, Color: Black Leather/Optic White
The sneakers look great and are comfortable on flat, smooth surfaces. Warning: The sole is very flexible and not well cushioned so a walk on rough or uneven surfaces can become uncomfortable quickly. Just understand the limitations.
