The SD-1 was released in 1990. It is an interesting digital synthesiser as it uses additive synthesis and waveform modulation to create sound, a kind of wavetable synthesis. This places the SD-1 among unique synthesisers such as the PPG Wave and Waldorf Microwave series. 

The SD-1 can create all sorts of acoustic, electric, digital, and analog-like sounds. Its piano sound has over 1 MB of 16-bit waveforms to give it a full and rich realistic tone not found in other digital synthesisers of the time.

The SD-1 has 21 voices of polyphony and a single patch can contain up to 6 of the 168 waves in its ROM memory that can be combined and layered. Advanced and analog-like synth parameters including its dual multi-mode digital filters, three 11-stage envelopes, LFO, and 15 modulation sources allow you to further shape and morph your sounds. There's even a dual effects processor with reverb, chorus, flanging and delay.

The SD-1 has a professional quality on-board sequencer making it a complete all-in-one music production workstation. This is a 24-track sequencer with 25,000 note capacity and it holds up to 60 sequences and 20 songs. 

Condition:

  • This unit has been used.

  • This SD-1 has had a major service. All issues and faulty components were replaced. It has since been tested and we can confirm it is fully functional and sounding great!

  • Unfortunately the floppy disk drive is not working, however is not necessary to use the synthesiser or save or move sounds or sequences as it also has MIDI. This could be swapped out by a synth savvy person with a more modern USB or SD card emulator. 

  • The cosmetic condition of this unit is good. It shows some general wear from use and age like some text and paint finish which was worn off the front. The text is for the inputs and outputs on the back which is still clear on the back of the unit. It does not detract from use or functions of the machine. Please see photos for further details.

  • It looks like they keys were lacquered with a clear, shiny coat in the past. Please see all photos for further details.

  • This SD-1 has had a brand new memory battery installed. 

  • Please be aware this unit is 100V. This means it MUST be used with a step-down transformer, not a travel adaptor. If you are unsure about this please let us know. These are by far the softest and most comfortable underwear I have ever owned. The leg portion absolutely does roll up as so many others have mentioned, however, I did not find that to be uncomfortable at all just annoying that they don’t stay in place. I bought these specific underwear to see if it would help alleviate HS symptoms at all. They have definitely helped with wicking moisture away from the skin. More time will tell if it’s truly helpful for HS. For now, I will recommend these.
