Makita is the innovation leader in brushless motor technology, and the 18V LXT® Brushless Hammer Driver-Drill (XPH12Z, tool only) combines power and run-time for more drilling, driving and fastening tasks in wood, metal, and masonry. The efficient Makita BL™ Brushless Motor is electronically controlled and engineered for longer run time, increased power and speed, and longer tool life.

It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18V Lithium-Ion series, the world’s largest cordless tool line-up powered by an 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style battery. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger.

The variable 2-speed brushless motor delivers up to 2,000 RPM and 530 in.lbs. of max torque for efficient fastening. It weighs only 4.0 pounds (with battery) with an L.E.D. light that illuminates the job area for applications in dark spaces.

For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT® and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.

    Bright color and tough skin both great

I bought them as foot covers for the legs of walkers used by the elderly, a very popular use. They work extremely well to protect rugs and flooring, and to make a quiet gliding cover, easier for seniors to move smoothly without snags. The usual tennis balls used for this purpose wear out pretty quickly, but this ball was made to be repeatedly fetched and gnawed on by your Rottweiler, so it's a big improvement. You will need a good cutting tool to score in the crosswise slits where you insert the walker leg; it's too tough for your household scissors, but that's just the point, right? It's tough. Very much recommended!

Update 2023-12: After posting my review the seller contacted me and provided me with two free sets of balls as an apology for the bad quality of the original set. So far these are holding much better with my dog and she loves to play fetch with them.
