A true original now given a new life. This 9'2" Hobie surfboard has been owned by the same person for over 60 years. We have meticulously removed the old fiberglass and restored this surfboard to like new condition.  The iconic 3" Balsa stringer is at the heart of this board and highlights the origins of surfboards from clamped together sticks of Balsa wood from those iconic days in the 1960s. When we showed it to him at the memory care home his eyes lit up and the stories started to flow!  He was amazing! The staff was thrilled with his reaction. We talked for an hour about where he surfed it and how it felt to him. He spoke about the "beauty mark" on the stringer above the logo; how he used to put his foot on or behind it, and everyone knew it was his surfboard because of the distinguishing mark on the stringer. Made by the incomparable Hobie Alter's surfboard company over 60 years ago in California. Restored in Hawai'i to continue its legacy of bringing joy to those who surf it.
