In the distance date palms cultivated by Bani Yas villagers grow scattered across the sand in the far left. Further beyond softly rolling dunes rise above the grove and stretch into a high ridge along the horizon. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.
