50-70 days. Annual. Blue Lake Pole vines can grow up to 12 feet long, requiring some kind of growing guidance, such as poles or strings. The oval pods produced are crisp and tender, growing up to 6 inches long. Green beans, also known as string beans or snap peas, are one of the most common vegetables grown. This is due to their simplicity and the fast manner in which they mature; a green bean can be harvested as soon as just fifty days after being sown! This variety grows in an upright vine fashion, and therefore needs support like a pole or a trellis. Because green beans are annual, you can simply pull the root from the ground when it’s time to pick them.

Growing Treated Blue Lake FM1K Pole Beans

  • Latin Name: Phaseolus vulgaris
  • Other Names: String Beans
  • Days to Maturity: 50-70 days
  • Hardiness Zone: 3-9
  • Planting Depth: 1"
  • Plant Spacing: 3"
  • Row Spacing: 18-24"
  • Growth Habit: Vine (trellis recommended)
  • Soil Preference: Loose soil, PH level of 6 to 7 preferred, cannot germinate in cold soil so best to sow in late spring
  • Temp Preference: Warmer
  • Light Preference: Full sun is required.
  • Pests/diseases: Aphids, spider mites, grasshoppers, slugs. Wet leaves can rot and disease can spread, so affected leaves need to be removed
  • Color: Green
  • Flavor: Juicy, crunchy consistency
  • Seeds Per Package:
    • 1 lb - Approximately 1,600 Seeds
    • 5 lb - Approximately 8,000‬ Seeds
    • 25 lb - Approximately 40,000‬ Seeds

To get started, sow the seeds just one inch beneath the surface in a loose soil, with four inches between plants and eighteen to twenty four inches between rows. Beans need light, but even, watering. Because the leaves can become afflicted with disease if made wet, you should water as close to the root as possible. If you do find that a leaf has become diseased, remove it from the plant immediately, as the disease can spread. You can begin harvesting beans when they are about three to five inches long; this will usually be around fifty to seventy days. Leaving mature beans on the plant can stop or slow production, so be sure to keep an eye on these rapid growers!

This book has a lot of interesting information about the field of nursing. Taking this class as a hybrid this book has the in-depth information that PowerPoints usually don’t include. I advise everyone to read this book even after class is over…read it!

Easy read
Format: Paperback
I purchased it for school of course. I’m also taking Psych and Med Surg lll right now. I’ll say that knowing I had to read this book was a big turn off for me as I only wanted to focus on the other courses I felt were more important and thought this book/ class was of no need. Now that I’m a week out from my first exam and have to play catch up on 5 chapters, lol, I will say the book is written in a way that what they’re conveying comes off as quite interesting. There’s no boredom to it at all. So I’d say kudos to the writer… because they did their big one!
