It is designed for heavy duty sparring or scenario drills, its extra thick padding allows for further absorption of hits. The length of the arm guard covers above the elbow down to the hand to ensure that all areas are covered to avoid wrist breaks, hits to the upper arm that is usually not covered, elbow protection to protect both athletes when hitting and receiving hits and the hand which has extra padding compared to a normal TKD glove to allow for a harder punch. The fingers are open to allow the athlete to still utilise their hand to block or parry kicks.
