The Russell/Salomie circuit redesign has certainly lived up to the claim in terms of noise and distortion reduction. I equate those as having an influence on the background levels of self-noise, and this is where the 14B³ displays an extremely quiet ‘black’ background. Such silence allows very good low-level and micro-dynamic information to be relayed unpolluted by circuit noise.

I can't think of the correct word to describe the unobtrusive neutrality. How a component can manage to deliver such effortless power and precision, while appearing to not exist, is beyond me.

Overall, the Bryston 14B³ delivered superb performance on Newport Test Labs’ test bench: indeed it’s one of the best-performing amplifiers I have ever evaluated - maybe even the outright best - with no weak spots anywhere in its performance.

In our opinion, the new Bryston 14B3 Cube stereo amplifier is most certainly an Everything Audio Network Stellar Sound Award winner and a candidate for amp of the year. If you are looking for amplifier honesty and the ability to drive any speaker in the largest of rooms, or just like the power reserve on hand in your modest listening area, this is one to consider.

It’s great to see Bryston continue their tradition of building extremely high quality equipment. Just as importantly, it’s great to see them not sit on their laurels and past reputation and continue development. The Bryston 14B3 is an excellent flagship amplifier and with some consideration of partnering equipment, the Bryston would be a very good choice whether its use for 2-channel music, or within a home theatre system.
