Ancient Pottery Decoration Experience

This private experience welcomes one to five participants to explore the principles and practice of ancient ceramic decoration techniques — the so-called black-figure and red-figure methods — using in-house produced clay paints in our authentic working studio in Athens (ATTIC BLACK @ Thetis Workshop, 4 Diagoras Str.).

Guided by the ATTIC BLACK team, participants engage with tradition, creativity, and material culture in an intimate and meaningful setting.

The decorated surfaces are flat clay tablets (pinakes), inspired by votive plaques discovered in sanctuaries on the slopes of the Acropolis.

After the workshop, the pieces are carefully dried and fired within approximately 15–20 days. They may then be shipped worldwide at an additional cost or collected directly from the workshop.

Approximately 2–2.5 hours

• Monday to Friday
• 9:30 am – 5:00 pm
• Workshops are offered year-round
• Limited availability in August, when the workshop is typically closed for approximately two weeks (mid-August)
