Je kunt bijvoorbeeld een afbeelding afdrukken op transparant folie, direct tekenen op een vel, of objecten zoals blaadjes of kant verzamelen om als sjabloon te gebruiken. Leg deze op de behandelde stof, stel het bloot aan zonlicht, en zie het patroon verschijnen terwijl de stof van kleur verandert.
