Op de aluminium plaat is een protestantste kerk afgebeeld, gefotografeerd door fotograaf Truus Nijland. Truus vertelt: 'De kerk werd gebouwd tussen 1796 - 1797 en werd ontworpen door Carl Langhans Gottard.

De buitenkant van de kerk is niet interessant, maar de binnenkant moet gewoon geweldig zijn geweest; Een prachtig altaar, witte vloeren, een enorm orgel, een houten doopvont in het midden van de kerk met daarboven een enorme kristallen kroonluchter en twee enorme ovale / eivormige balkons.

Sinds 1945 wordt deze kerk om een ​​paar redenen niet meer gebruikt voor diensten of kerkelijke activiteiten;
Eerst en vooral, toen deze kerk werd gebouwd, behoorde de grond waarop hij stond toe aan Duitsland en de mensen die daar woonden waren voornamelijk protestant.
Toen de Tweede Wereldoorlog eindigde, werd dit gebied teruggegeven aan Polen en de Poolse mensen die leefden in dit gebied waren overwegend katholiek.
Omdat niemand het gebouw wilde onderhouden, begon het gewoon uit elkaar te vallen en nu is het bijna onherstelbaar. Momenteel vindt er toch een restauratie plaats.'

I love how there were flashbacks from the past intertwined with present day. Gave a great backstory that only came together at the very end. Spicy for sure, and fit in perfectly with story. Great character development so that you could empathize with both of the main characters.. Lucian and Isa. Check Trigger warnings first! Highly recommend this book
