Hij is bedoeld voor het voorzichtig vastzetten van jonge planten, tomatenstokken of ranken, zonder gebruik van harde materialen die de plant kunnen beschadigen. De tape is tot 8 keer zijn lengte op te rekken.

Je knipt een gepaste lengte van de tape af, wikkelt deze rond de plant en zijn steun (stok of draad) en drukt de uiteinden zachtjes tegen elkaar zodat de tape hecht zonder te knellen. Doordat hij niet geperforeerd is, blijft het oppervlak glad en voorkomt het dat fijne haartjes aan de plant blijven haken. Hierdoor kun je eenvoudig aanpassingen maken bij groei.

Omdat deze buddy‑tape non‑geperforeerd biologisch afbreekbaar is, lost hij na verloop van tijd op onder invloed van zonlicht en weersinvloeden. Dit betekent dat je de tape in principe niet hoeft te verwijderen want hij verdwijnt vanzelf en laat geen schadelijke resten achter. Door die eigenschap draagt hij bij aan een milieuvriendelijke tuin.
