De Ramos Pinto Porto White is een verfijnde witte port uit Portugal, afkomstig uit de Douro-streek in het noorden van het land. Hij is gemaakt van een zorgvuldig samengestelde blend van klassieke Portugese druiven zoals Arinto, Rabigato, Viosinho en Códega, wat deze port een goudgele kleur en een levendige smaak geeft. De port wordt versterkt met wijnalcohol en rijpt kort in houten vaten om extra aroma’s te ontwikkelen, wat zorgt voor elegantie zonder ingewikkeldheid.

In geur en smaak vind je frisse citrus, rijp fruit, honing en amandeltonen die samen een aangename complexiteit vormen. De wijn voelt zacht en fruitig aan op het palet, met een mooie balans tussen zoetigheid en frisheid. Deze port komt het beste tot zijn recht licht gekoeld tussen 8 en 12 °C, bijvoorbeeld als aperitief of in combinatie met zachte geitenkaas, fruitige desserts of een kaasplankje.

Ramos Pinto werd in 1880 opgericht en combineert wijngaarden op zowel hoog als laag gelegen percelen, met verschillende bodemsoorten zoals schist en graniet. Ramos Pinto is beroemd om zijn innovatie en kwaliteit. Een leuk feitje: men verzamelt druiven van meerdere Quinta’s (wijnhuizen), waaronder Bom Retiro en Ervamoira, en wijnmaker João Nicolau de Almeida selecteert per oogstjaar de beste vaten om port te maken.

High quality, fast reading, easy to use
This is a very nice product. It works as advertised. It appears to be reasonably well made too. I'd give it 5 stars, but I have a few gripes that force me to subtract 1 star: 1) Price. While it appears to be pretty well made and is quite attractive in appearance, it doesn't quite have the feel and heft of a $109 gadget. It is at least twice the price of any other pro-level, instant-read thermometer available on Amazon. Hopefully it will provide years of accurate, durable, reliable use, befitting of its hefty price tag. 2) The screw on the battery compartment cover gave me fits. It took a little more elbow grease than I expected to get it to turn, making me more than a bit concerned that I might strip the screw. 3) The "Careful it's sharp" warning label affixed to the probe itself was practically *glued* on. I had to carefully use a razor blade to get it off, and even then, there was a lot of residual adhesive and bits of the label stuck to the probe--and under my thumbnail too! I had to take out my Goo Gone adhesive remover to clean the probe of the adhesive and leftover bits of label, and also to extract the crap out from under my thumbnail...these are NOT steps I wanted or needed to take to put this thing into service! Jeez! Anyway, I'll update this review after I get a few months of use out of the Typhur InstaProbe.

The one thing you gotta watch out for is the probe can read the the heat that rises from the bottom of the grill as you move it towards the meat you wanna check because it reads that quick and that’s not a negative comment, just letting you know! Quality whisker for the price. Takes 2 AA batteries and has a stand and different mixing tip. I like that it has a pressure sensitive button on the top that has variable speed and easy to control by just easing your thumb off or pushing down the power button. Top speed is almost too much for a regular sized glass but you can easily depress the button to only "half" pressure and keep at medium speed. Sometime I just press it fully down for top a quick speed burst and it stirs most things quickly. Press it down full speed for too long and you'll spill the liquid out.
