Wat hebben Italië, Australië en Californië met elkaar gemeen? Het verhaal van Calabria Family Wines begon in 1945 met de oprichters Francesco en Elisabetta Calabria. Een aantal jaren eerder verruilden zij het zuiden van Italië voor Australië, waar ze nooit meer zijn weggegaan. Inmiddels staat de derde generatie van de familie aan het roer van Calabria Wines. Hun inspiratie voor de nieuwe Kings of Prohibition-serie haalden ze uit Californië. Deze wijnen zijn namelijk geinspireerd op de wilde dagen van de drooglegging in de VS in de jaren twintig. De Lucky Luciano wordt gemaakt van shiraz-druiven, die uit heel Australië kunnen komen. Het toverwoord is rijp. Deze rijpe druiven worden zeven dagen op de schil vergist, voordat ze worden geperst. Daarna rijpt de wijn nog zo'n 6 tot 9 maanden in gebruikte eikenhouten vaten. Het resultaat is een krachtpatser, het bessenfruit en chocolade springt het glas uit.
