The Su-34 fighter bomber was developed by the Soviet Union's Sukhoi Design Bureau (now known as the Russian Joint Aircraft Manufacturing Group Sukhoi), with the earliest model being the Su-27IB test aircraft. Its test aircraft made its maiden flight in April 1990, and the pre production version made its maiden flight on December 18, 1993.
