"It’s August and I feel like buying school supplies. I’m not sure why this is such a gratifying task. There’s something about freshly sharpened No.2 pencils, and the linen paper we used for presentations before the digital age. Perhaps it is because I grew up in a family of teachers, and gearing up for the beginning of school was a comprehensive endeavor. It kind of feels like a ‘fresh start’ after finishing the previous term and having the summer to re-group. This collection, ‘Pencil & Paper’, was inspired by the nostalgia of preparing for a new school year."   -Melanie Rice

DESIGNER RECOMMENDED YARN: Merino Superwash Sock Twist by Cloudborn Fibers (80% Merino Wool / 20% Nylon; 467yds): 1 Skein. Shown in colorway Gray Heather.

ALTERNATE YARN: Sock by Malabrigo  (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 100g/440yds): 1 Skein.  Available in the gorgeous Malabrigo kettle-dyed colors that range from subtle to highly variegated colors.

ALTERNATE YARN: O-Wash Fingering by O-Wool (100% Washable Organic Merino Wool; 100g/394yds): 1 Skein.  Available in solid colors with eco-friendly processing for the environmentally minded consumer.  Dyed & milled in the Northeastern USA.
