"Who's There?" was inspired by my many walks in the woods here in Bend, Oregon. The old ponderosa trees are huge and rich in color. If you find a large one with oranges, you can lean in and smell the vanilla scent emanating from the bark. I love to "stop and smell the roses" when I see a beautiful, big, old Ponderosa Tree. When these trees burn, they can have giant cavities which create spaces for creatures to live. I originally thought I would be painting a chipmunk on this tree, but it just begged for an owl and I obliged. Peaking from the dark hollow is a barn owl. Purple seems to be my trade color, so I couldn't help but add a hint of violet in her twinkling eyes. She took 7 months to finish and she would be an extremely special painting to add to your art collection.
