How It's Made

THE BACK STORY: WHAT SEPARATES BAKER’S BACK BACON FROM THE REST OF THE HERD

British style back bacon is made using the center cut pork loin that is still attached to a part of the belly. When we first wanted to make this bacon, sourcing was the hardest part, finding a supply of fresh loins that met our strict standards of animal welfare, combined with the best eating heritage breeds. We use pork sourced from a handful of select family owned ranches growing Duroc, Hampshire and Berkshire hogs.

The Cure:

We start with salt and raw brown sugar, for its dark nutty sweetness. Then we add my own blend of spices and naturally occurring nitrite derived from celery. The back bacon is naturally cured in this wet brine solution.

The Smoke:

The pork is rinsed and hung on a tree to go to the smokehouse. The smokehouse cooks the pork for 11 hours. Real applewood gets wetted down so they smolder slowly, the fire gets lit and over time the cured pork transforms into real applewood smoked bacon.

Shipping

Baker’s Bacon is perishable, so it needs to ship carefully in a special pack on ice and travel no more than a couple of days. Individual orders are processed as soon as they are received, however we only ship on MONDAY, TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY to avoid shipments travelling over the weekend. Therefore if you place your order on Wednesday, it will ship the following Monday and arrive the following Tuesday or Wednesday depending on how far it has to travel from Marina, California.

Worth a lot more than I paid!
I waited a year before making this review. I could not be more impressed with how well this machine has been performing, regardless of its low price. I have been making two or three americacano's a day for a year. Every cup is just like the last. It takes about 90 seconds to have a hot eight ounce americacano! The only time it leaks is if I grind the beans too fine. Once I dial in my grinder, Im set until I switch to different bean. I feel like I have already got my moneys worth. If it died tomorrow, I would order another one.

The coffee is very tasty
This 20-bar espresso machine is compact, stylish, and very easy to use. It makes great-tasting coffee with a nice crema, and the steam wand works perfectly for cappuccinos and lattes. The water tank is spacious and convenient, and the display showing brew time and water temperature gives it a modern touch. Perfect for enjoying great coffee at home without taking up much space… I’m in love with my coffee maker 😍

Wonderful so far! UPDATED REVIEW: little over a month later...
Reducing to 1* due to machine being defective. No longer exerting enough pressure for good shots and the portafilter has started leaking. I've done all troubleshooting and steps that should be taken for these issues to no success. Machine is basically a hot water machine now. 4.5* The warmer on top could certainly be better but other than that I haven't had any issues. Seems to be as advertised. It's definitely quieter than my nespresso machine and makes a better shot for sure. Getting the grind and tamping right takes a bit of trial and error if you're new to making espresso but once you get that down, this machine will do what you need. The Americano option is also a little wonky imo but I haven't messed with it very much. I just run my shots and use the hot water function when I make an americano 🤷🏻‍♀️ as long as it lasts it seems like it's gonna be a great purchase 😌

Excellent espresso at home, easy and quick to use
Excellent espresso coffee maker. Prepare a coffee with a very good aroma, perfect cream and intense flavor, like from a coffee shop. It is easy to use, heats up quickly and its design is modern and compact. Very good value for money. Totally recommended!

Fine espresso but poor frother
I wanted to like this, but couldn’t. The good: Makes fine espresso. Uses a typical pressurized portofilter, so there’s no skill to it. It can use normal drip coffee grinds. Looks nice. Has timed (albeit short) presets for single and double shots. But… The display is useless. 198 degrees is the temperature shown…but it never changes. No other status is shown. Might as well say “On” The worst part…the FROTHER. It’s not removable. It’s very hard to clean. It’s got a small orifice that doesn’t froth very well. It just makes A LOT of noise. Not good at 5am. The ones with the removable barrel are quieter and foam better. The foam selector is poorly designed. To go from coffee to steam you have to go past “hot water” which you don’t need in your milk. And then you have to stand by for several seconds while it heats up and pressurizes. Other machines have a much simpler switch design that preheats ahead of time and then steams on command. It’s pretty, but other machines work much better
