The Yamaha BBP34 represents the pinnacle of the BB series, combining premium Japanese craftsmanship, carefully selected tonewoods, Yamaha’s proprietary I.R.A. (Initial Response Acceleration) treatment, and powerful electronics. With its classic styling and versatile voice, this bass is equally at home on stage, in the studio, or during extended practice sessions.
At its core is a double-cutaway alder/maple/alder body finished in a striking Midnight Blue gloss polyurethane. This construction delivers excellent resonance, rich sustain, and the deep, authoritative low end that defines the BB sound. A 5-piece maple/mahogany neck is secured with Yamaha’s 6-bolt miter neck joint, offering exceptional stability and smooth playability across the 34" scale length. The rosewood fingerboard adds warmth and articulation, complementing the instrument’s naturally punchy character. With 21 medium frets and classic white block inlays, the BBP34 feels familiar and inviting from the first note.
Vintage-inspired appointments further enhance its appeal. Yamaha’s Vintage Plus bridge features convertible stringing options, brass saddles, and a steel plate for improved sustain, comfortable spacing, and efficient transfer of string vibration to the body. A Graph Tech nut promotes reliable intonation, while lightweight open-gear tuners provide precise tuning stability.
The BBP34 is equipped with a pair of YGD Custom V7 Alnico V pickups—a split single-coil in the neck position and a single-coil in the bridge—delivering a powerful, articulate voice with classic BB character. From warm, supportive lows to defined, punchy mids, this pickup configuration excels across virtually any musical style. Simple controls for neck volume, bridge volume, and master tone make it easy to shape your sound while preserving the bass’s natural clarity and detail.
