Discover 'Africa’s Struggle for Its Art', a groundbreaking history that chronicles the ongoing efforts of African nations since the 1960s to reclaim art looted during the colonial era. This compelling narrative by renowned scholar Bénédicte Savoy sheds light on the complex history of cultural restitution, bringing to the forefront vital yet often overlooked stories. As Africa seeks to reclaim its identity and heritage, this book explores how the African struggle for art intertwines with broader conversations about colonialism and cultural repatriation. With insights drawn from extensive archival research, including previously unpublished sources, Savoy illuminates the depths of political and cultural movements advocating for art restitution. Notable events, such as the influential speech by Zaire’s President Mobutu Sese Seko at the UN General Assembly, are explored, marking a significant moment in the discourse surrounding colonial art return. Learn how African leaders mobilized efforts to press for repatriation, standing against historical narratives that marginalized their claims. 'Africa’s Struggle for Its Art' not only informs about the fight for restitution but also argues for the importance of cultural heritage protection in the future relations between Africa and the West. This essential read is perfect for historians, art enthusiasts, and anyone engaged in discussions about cultural identity and justice. All around helpful---worth the money!
Format: Paperback
This guide has been most helpful for all the folks I help prepare for the iTEP test! It gives insight into what each section of the test is looking for along with examples and great tips about actually TAKING the test. In the Writing and Speaking sections, it also gives sample scores and comments from the Master Grader which is very helpful too.

Comprehensive, clear and coherent!
Format: Paperback
The iTEP Practice Guide combines a no-nonsense approach to the specific iTEP tests and at the same time offers exercises that task the student with what they need to know. Exercises not only serve the purpose of scoring well, but the overall approach is communicative competence. We use the text in our group and one-to-one classes with very positive--and lasting--results.

No recomiendo
Format: Paperback
