We have passion for all things handmade, and first on that list is handcrafted Cement. Our Atomic 8x8 square Cement color Cement is matte, silky, and imperfectly perfect. As part of our 8x8 Cement color collection, each tile has subtle tonal variation. Atomic Cements are perfect for bathrooms, showers, and flooring applications. They are also especially popular for use in kitchen backsplashes, kitchen floors, powder rooms and outdoor patios. They are timeless, durable, and endlessly variable. Find over a hundred unique designs including our Atomiccement tile at ziatile.com

Where our Cement comes from

The French and Catalans were the first to use the technique in the 1850's both in France and in Barcelona. The complex patterns used in the tiles are due to an interest in ancient cultures, most notably early Arab and Moorish art. As a result, the tiles spread throughout Europe as a high quality flooring material and then onto former European colonies in Latin America, North Africa, and Vietnam.

How Zia Tile manufactures our tile

We make 8x8 Cement color Cements like our Atomic color-way by hand, one at a time, using mineral pigments, cement, a mold, and a hydraulic press. Each of our Atomic8x8 square tiles are unique and one of a kind, as tonal variation makes every tile subtly different from the next. The individual patterns are made by applying separate pigments, one by one, in a handmade brass mold. The process is incredibly delicate, requiring skilled artisans with years of experience.

Why we love our 8x8 Cement

Our Atomic 8x8 Cements are not fired in a kiln because there is no glaze layer on the surface of the tile. Instead, each tile has a pigment layer that is 2-3 millimeters thick, resulting in a tile that is incredibly durable, lasting well over a century. Our tiles come in an endless array of patterns with 64 custom colors to choose from, from bold jewel tones, to monochromatic black and white.

Good finish, nice wood, good price
I have done quite a lot of woodworking in my life, and this is a nice piece of work. Great finish and nice looking.

Easy install
Just installed in our bathroom. Feels solid. We have a potted plant on it now. You will want a drill bit extender to clear the shelf. I use the flexible type. Otherwise you won’t be able to get the screws in at a 90 degree angle.

Very nice, well made.
The nine-inch oak shelf is well made, and is 45 degrees. The wall where I planned to install it was not, and I suspect this is the problem some of the reviews saying the shelf was not made at 45 degrees. In my case, we removed wood a bit at a time until we achieved a good fit. We did receive all of the hardware, but beware. The plastic straight insert anchors do not snug up with the supplied screws. However we used the supplied plastic toggles with better results. The hardware is why I rate this 4 stars. Otherwise, it is a nice piece, and well worth the price.

Pieces missing, poor instructions, would not buy again!
Let's start with the good news: I did, eventually, get the shelves hung after a trip to the hardware store and some trial and error. Now for the bad news: * One of the screws holding the brace to the shelf was missing, making the shelf wobbly before I even hung it. * The directions for hanging the shelves show a different anchor than the one that comes packaged with them. This anchor will ONLY work in sturdy drywall and it's going to leave a huge hole behind. * The directions tell you to flip the shelf upside-down to position and mark the screw holes, BUT that means the sides of the shelf are reversed, and the hole positions do not match on each side. So if you start hammering or drilling based on those marks, they don't align and now you have extra holes in your wall. Honestly, I regret buying these and wish I'd just chosen a free-standing shelf instead. But I made it work for me, so I guess there's that.
