Why the Material Is the Decision
Most wood outdoor lounge chairs at this price point are made from Chinese fir. Chinese fir isn't rot-resistant and deteriorates in 1 to 3 years outdoors. Northern White Cedar lasts 10 to 20 years under normal outdoor use — it's naturally rot and insect resistant without chemical treatment. That's the material difference between a wood selected for outdoor furniture because of its properties, and one selected because it's inexpensive to import.
Lounge Position, Cedar Log Construction
The lounge configuration angles the seat further back than an upright chair, lower to the ground, with the back angle set for sitting a while rather than sitting properly. The contoured seat slats follow the natural position of the body at rest. Pairs with the Cedar Log Ottoman (CF1220) to bring your feet up. Finish as you prefer: leave it to weather naturally to silver-grey, or treat with any outdoor-rated oil, stain, or paint.

About Log Checking
Natural surface cracks (checks) appear as the wood dries with changes in humidity and temperature. In Northern White Cedar, checking is a normal characteristic of genuine log construction and does not affect structural integrity. Checks are surface-level and do not indicate a defect.
