Alder Block Ald48 2.6" x 2.7" x 11.8" 1.4 lbs. Here's a pretty spindle of Red Alder. The wood is an overall peachy-brown color with warm undertones of red and yellow. Alder tends to have a lot of color variation throughout, so please browse the photos to get a sense of this particular piece's character. Fully air-dried to 10-12% moisture content. This piece has an end-grain crack that you'll want to secure with CA glue prior to turning. See photo for close-up. About the Tree This Red Alder tree lived a long and healthy life on San Juan Island, Washington. It died naturally and toppled over, probably during one of the wind storms which frequently sweep across the island. It rested on the ground in the forest for a time, allowing the local mushrooms to colonize and spalt the wood. Spalting is highly variable across the tree. Not all pieces have spalting, but quite a few have black-line and zone spalting that enhance this already-beautiful wood. You'll enjoy the projects you create from this wood! |

Fun and durable toy
Lots of fun for this crazy guy! He pounces on it, chases it and has so much fun. The confusion on his face is so funny. He usually gets bored fast, however this ball keeps him quite entertained.
The ball holds a charge for a few playtimes so that is also a plus!

I wouldn’t recommend this for strong chewers.

Is it fun? Sure. Was it easy to charge and set up? Yep. That being said, this toy kind of fell flat for me. It really didn’t do any big movements once charged that I expected it to, so that was a bummer. I initially got it for my dog, but my cats were more interested in this than my dog was. The battery does seem to last a long time and the motor is pretty quiet. I WOULD NOT recommend this toy for strong chewers as the material for this is a foam rubber and I don’t think it’s durable enough for strong chewers. While the material makes this ball extremely lightweight for more movement, a strong chewer would have this disintegrated in five minutes flat. My Dog is a super strong chewer. I don’t think I would feel comfortable leaving him unattended with this because I know he would destroy it.
