As expected, the D-45 Standard exemplifies Martin's forward-thinking design and expert guitar building. The D-45 starts with a spruce top treated with an Aging Toner gloss finish to highlight the glowing quality of the wood's natural hues. To shape the dreadnought body, East Indian rosewood is utilized to form the back and sides, accented by antique white binding and multi-stripe abalone back, side, and top inlays to signify the guitar as an ornate masterpiece. Found under the hood, so to speak, is spruce "GE" scalloped forward-shifted X-bracing to enhance projection and lend to the singular sound that exudes from the instrument. The ebony bridge with compensated bone saddle provides the guitar with additional resonance and stable intonation, maintaining outstanding pitch to serve such a glorious guitar musical justice.

Working our way up the guitar, we find a mahogany neck found in the GE modified low oval profile, a high-performance tapered feel that is comfortable at any of the 20 frets across the 25.4" scale length. Topping the neck is a bound ebony fingerboard with a 16" radius supplying brilliant articulation and pronounced attack, adorned with hexagon shaped abalone inlays that enhance the guitar's luxurious shine at all gigs and sessions. Guiding the strings up to the abalone detailed headstock is a bone nut with a 1.75" width, leading to gold open gear tunings to ensure stable notes when conjuring the D-45's bold tone.
