Sushi Roll takes the drafting and set collection elements and applies them to a dice game. The game goes back to providing you with a set amount of variation in terms of one pre-chosen collection of dice. There is no mixing things up Sushi Go Party style, but as this is dice you have the added luck/risk & reward structure providing the variety.

Players will start with a handful of dice, depending on player count, which they will roll the dice and place them on a 'conveyor belt' sitting above their player board. One of these conveyor belts is signified as a first player, as unlike the card games player order matters. This of course has the potential to add a little bit of time to the length of the game. Given the simplicity of the game it isn't going to be hours added but it will play out longer than the card game versions.

Once players have chosen one die from their conveyor belt and added it to their player board, they will pass the remaining dice and the conveyor belt to the left, receiving one from their right at the same time. Interestingly the dice you receive are rolled again before you choose one, giving you a bit more to think about.

The components are great! The player boards look like menus and neatly explain all the scoring options and show the dice layouts. Add in some special tokens and powers and you have a game that plays with a lot more thought than the card game. This is because all the dice are all on view all the time. You see exactly what the other players are choosing from and what dice will likely come your way giving your decision more significance. A worthy dice version of the classic card game.
