Yes, the Isle of Islay is better known for their scotch making. But, the wonderful water and natural ingredients that abound on the island don't make a wonderful gin like The Botanist such a surprise!
The eighth largest isle in the British Isles is damp and rocky but lush. And, it's boundless flora made it a natural place for The Botanist Gin to become the second gin distillery to put down roots on the island in 2011.
Distilled on a pot still - column still Frankenstein known affectionately as "Ugly Betty," The Botanist brings truly unique process, ingredients, and provenance to a wonderfully complex gin. Thirty-one botanicals, including twenty-two that are hand foraged, lend The Botanist a unique character that lends itself to cocktail making. Tasters appreciate juniper and sweet citrus on the tongue with a slight minty note on the finish.
