The colors are the light golden orange of recently surfaced Bodark, with occasional lines of reddish spalt staining. With time, the traditional orange and reddish Bodark colors will turn to a beautiful dark, golden brown with age and exposure to air and light. The colors are the light golden-orange of recently-surfaced Bodark, with occasional lines of reddish spalt staining. With time, the traditional orange and reddish Bodark colors will turn to a beautiful dark, golden brown with age and exposure to air and light. I've taken lots of photos of this piece, so that you can see the quality of grain and spalting. There are a few surface scuffs from the sawblade that will turn right off. There are a couple of shallow end cracks that are minor -- can be ignored or stabilized with CA glue, if you wish. Great for use atop the bedside table!
Very nice! I bought this for my father for his birthday, and he really liked the gift! It's a nice little place for him to keep all of his essentials together on the bedside table. No more losing his watch, keys, wallet, etc. or knocking them off the table!
