Description:

From the author of Nightwood, Djuna Barnes has written a book that is all that she was, and must still be vulgar, beautiful, defiant, witty, poetic, and a little mad.

Told as through a kaleidoscope, the chronicle of the Ryder family is a bawdy tale of eccentricity and anarchy; through sparkling detours and pastiche, cult author Djuna Barnes spins an audacious, intricate story of sexuality, power, and praxis.

Ryder, like its namesake, Wendell Ryder, is many things - lyric, prose, fable, illustration; protagonist, bastard, bohemian, polygamist. Born in the 1800s to infamous nonconformist Sophia Grieve Ryder, Wendell's search for identity takes him from Connecticut to England to multifarious digressions on morality, tradition, and gender. Censored upon its first release in 1928, Ryder's portrayal of sexuality remains revolutionary despite the passing of time and the expurgations in the text, preserved by Barnes in protest of the war 'blindly raged against the written word'. The weight of Wendell's story endures despite this censorship, as his drive to assume the masculine roles of patriarch and protector comes at the sacrifice of the women around him.

A vanguard modernist, Djuna Barnes has been called the patron literary saint of Bohemia, and her second novel, Ryder, evinces her cutting wit and originality. The nonlinear structure and polyphonic narration pull the reader into Barnes' harlequin world like a riptide, echoing the melodic cascade of James Joyce's Ulysses and the avant-garde feminism of Dorothy Richardson. The novel is a rhapsodic saga that could have come only

Versatile sneakers. The upper makes the difference.
Size: 11, Color: Black/Smoke Grey/Medium Ash
Very good quality shoes for this price. My impressions: 1. The Flyknit upper feels very soft and comfortable. I don't get the rough, scratchy feel of some lower-quality options. It also disperses heat very well. 2. The midsole is firm, but not overly hard. I find it well-balanced, as it has good shock absorption while still being soft enough to cushion the soles of my feet. 3. They're versatile. For me, especially the black ones with the dark gray sole, they work for casual wear, going to the gym, walking, and short, light runs. 4. I consider them very decent shoes for walking and short runs under 5k.

Offer lots of support and traction- perfect gym shoes
So comfortable- they offer a lot of support and I can tell they will last for a long time (and I’m hard on my gym shoes!). I’m actually a female but I sized down and they fit perfectly. I found them on sale and definitely recommend them as they are well worth the price.

Comfortable nike running shoes.
Size: 13, Color: Black/Summit White/Anthracite/Cyber, Size: 13, Color: Black/Summit White/Anthracite/Cyber
Nice and comfortable from the moment that I put them on my feet. Feels like you’re walking on memory foam. You have to buy comfortable shoes when you’re on your feet all day. I do Amazon Flex in. These will be perfect although I have several pairs so that way, the shoe lasts longer. Definitely would buy these in different colors very satisfied.

Good shoe, seems physically big
I really like these shoes. I’ve been able to wear them for about a week now and am really impressed with how they’re holding up. A lot of my shoes start to squeak in a similar amount of time and these still feel like they just came out of the box. I especially like the heal support, it feels like it’s really gripping the heal nicely My one complaint is that they seem physically larger than most size 11 shoes from Nike I buy. In spite of fitting the same inside, the actual shoe seems about an inch longer than my other Nike size 11s. It’s not a deal breaker and it doesn’t impact the comfort, it might even make them more comfortable, but they look a bit large on my foot. And if you have a narrow foot, you might be swimming in these.

Can’t Miss Shoe
Size: 11, Color: White/Blue Crystal/Total Orange, Size: 11, Color: White/Blue Crystal/Total Orange
Great looking shoe! Fit to form, I wear a size 101/2 or 11 and I ordered a size 11 and they fit perfectly. Soft and comfortable perfect for walking as I suffer from knee and back pain at 59 years old…. Don’t judge me. Normal width size for me so not sure about the wide fit but the toe room for me is comfortable. Great choice will definitely recommend.
