I didn't have a mask, so I had no choice but to open my eyes and frame the shots barely seeing but years of practice paid off. I was in the water creating when I realised the visibility was good enough to go under, so I changed my settings and went to work. I didn't have a mask, so I had no choice but to open my eyes and frame the shots barely seeing — but years of practice paid off. When the first surfer went past on the nose, I went under, lined it up, and waited. The shutter clicked and it was over. I looked at the back of the camera and I knew I had it.
