Fender's history is largely responsible for the current popularity status of the Precision Bass, and this Fender Custom Shop '55 Precision Relic honors that legacy, offering a combination of timeless vintage-inspired specs, and modern performance features.
With a 2-piece ash body, this bass features a middle-of-the-road relic treatment from the Fender Custom Shop, offering some minor body checking, as well as some areas with the finish worn down to wood. There's ash exposed around the lower bout in the form of forearm wear, as well as some light buckle rash around the body's rear contours.
Attached using a robust four-bolt plate, this '55 Precision Bass Relic offers a quarter-sawn maple neck with a fingerboard of the same material. The neck is carved to a cozy Soft "V" profile, featuring a medium tint nitro finish that adds to its comfortability. Its fingerboard offers a 9.5-inch radius, and 20 total frets with Micarta Black inlays between them. Atop the headstock, '55 P-Bass relic tuning machines keep the vintage-inspired look consistent.
Stocked with a '55 Precision Bass relic bridge pickup handwired by the Fender Custom Shop, this instrument delivers classic P-Bass punch and warmth, controlled by a master volume and a master tone knob. Simplicity is best served in the form of low-end.
This bass comes with a Fender Custom Shop tweed P-Bass case.
