With the ability to go from 95% dry to 95% wet with the mix control, the Ixion is great for parallel compression techniques. Its contour control ensures that plenty of low frequency can barrel its way through all the compressor's squeezing, and the treble control makes sure your highs shine, back off, or sit just as your instrument sends them through the pedal. The sidechain input is where those of you who are more adventurous may want to send your focus. Inset a mono (TS) 1/4" cable to send an independent audio signal into the Ixion to control compression. Say, maybe your favorite beat machine needs some squishing. Or, use this input to send a stereo (TRS) 1/4" cable in that's connected to a volume or expression pedal if you'd like to control the Ixion's compression level dynamically on the fly with your foot. Not versatile enough yet? Then take a TRS to dual TS stereo breakout cable and run multiple pedals into the sidechain input, as you would an effects loop.
