Discover the unique narrative of New Zealand's religious landscape through the engaging pages of 'Bishops, Boozers, Brethren & Burkhas.' Authored by Mike Grimshaw, this exceptional book blends humor and insight, utilizing cartoons from the 1860s to present day to illustrate how religion has been depicted by our nation’s cartoonists. In a country where no comprehensive history of religion exists, this book fills that gap remarkably, providing a cartoon history that reflects both societal changes and the evolution of religious representation in New Zealand. With its 200 well-illustrated pages, this paperback edition not only captures the shifting attitudes towards religion as New Zealand transitioned into a more secular society since the 1970s but also highlights the impactful role of cartoonists in critiquing those changes. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of how religion and social beliefs have intertwined with our evolving culture, and how cartoonists have served as the vanguard of this dialogue. Easily portable due to its 200 x 260 mm dimensions, this book is an ideal addition to your collection or a great gift for those who appreciate the blend of art and analysis when it comes to social issues. The Book: Bishops, Boozers, Brethren &Burkhas uses cartoons from 1860s to the present day to discuss the way religion in New Zealand has been represented by our cartoonists. There is no general history of religion in New Zealand so this book is a unique contribution in providing not only a cartoon history of religion in this country but also a history via cartoons. From the 1860s, settlers viewed issues of religion and politics as problematic, but in the main, religion remained part of the fabric of society. However, religion was more of a concern for our cartoonists as New Zealand became an increasingly secular nation from the 1970s onwards. This not only reflects the generation of cartoonists whose work was published from the 1970s but also a shift in New Zealand society more generally. Overall, when religion was less of a contested identity and influence, cartoonists tended to leave religion – and the church alone. However, as the country became, very quickly, a secular society from the 1970s onwards, religion was a target of cartoonists. Religion and the religious were increasingly presented as representing religious and social attitudes and beliefs regarded as out of step with a modern society. A founding series editor for Radical Theologies and Philosophies (Palgrave Macmillan) and founding co-editor of Continental Thought & Theory:(http://ctt.canterbu

Cutest Dog Toys!
Style: 5 Pack Dog Toys, Style: 5 Pack Dog Toys
These tug toys are so cute! My puppies love them! They each have tug ropes and squeakers. They are unique and vivid in color. They are great quality for the price. The stuffed animals themselves aren’t great against aggressive chewers, but the rope holds up well. My two puppies love to play tug with each other and use the ropes to toss the toys around. They provide hours of entertainment.

Okay- not that durable
Style: 5 Pack Dog Toys
Not durable- my dog destroyed the sloth within 1 hour. She wanted to play tug a war and it ripped within 2 pulls. She is 8 month golden retriever- not large about 45 lbs.

Great Value and Fun Variety for Dogs
Style: 5 Pack Dog Toys
These plush dog toys are a great value for a 5-pack! The mix of soft plush and sturdy rope keeps my dog entertained, whether she’s chewing, tugging, or carrying them around. They’re lightweight and have held up nicely so far. Perfect variety to keep dogs busy and happy definitely worth the purchase.

Horribly made and falling apart
Style: 5 Pack Dog Toys
Of the 5 toys 2 came with stitching already falling apart or unfinished, another 1 broke after maybe 5-10 minutes of my dog gently carrying the toy around, then about 10 seconds of light tug-o-war before a wing ripped off and my dog looked absolutely heartbroken. He never rips or breaks toys, despite his gigantic size so it's not that he was being too rough with the toy by any stretch. The remaining 2 toys have noticeable weak spots in how they were made but my doggo and I work around that okay so far, if he even wants to play with them anymore.
It's not a big deal that the toys were smaller than expected, if they were made well I wouldn't have minded at all but I completely regret buying these toys based on how poorly they're made. It's dangerous for the dog for toys this poorly made to even be around for them to play with.
Don't recommend at all!
